I wanna know what happened on Wed that they couldnt get the new patch to work, and i tried to swarm around in the blogs to find out what, but as you know they usually dont lead ya where ya wanna go...So if anyone has info, like i said im nosie...lol
Also i noted the word "rollback" being used to describe going back to the previous version, was it a real roll back, or just to the time the stopped SL that day to work on the new patch?

The roll back in preview was a from a change in geometry where improvement were being done to make thing look better or run better but inturn casued alot of problems for existing builds. From what I understoond the hold on the release was do to a major problem with textures on AVs not showing up on high loads. This was evident on a pile on test in preview. That is about all.

aha i think i see..but if this occured in the preview pile up, wonder why they didnt think it would happen in the grid? I guess the only way to see is trying it, but in away im glad they rolled it back, shows that they are getting better at not making us suffer bugs out.

Not at all..it proves that they are still trying to implement changes that havent undergone a thorough and exhaustive QA process. Advancement of the game involves advancement in code, admittedly, but is it an advancement when it introduces new, bigger problems? I think not. Lag worldwide since 1.12.xx was released is starting to make SL unviable as a business / building platform, and the continual outages due to griefing via replicating objects and grey goo is all based upon bad decision making process at LL. Simple fixes are...slow deown development to expedite advancement through more comprehenisve WA testing...... abolish 'free pass' users and demand a valid CC for admission....say a $1 fee to be introduced to the game, with no ongoing fee. The CC is verified, ther persons id is therefore targettable, and the mass attacks stop. |

ahh good answer, i like that $1 idea, anyone with a checking account now can get a Visa/Master Debit Card...so thats not so impossible for anyone to do, and with paypal i think you can do debit on checking accounts, so its not so out of the question for anyone to have a way to pay. Well except maybe teenagers...but isnt that what were talking about here? |

Other countries "debit" cards work only to debit money from their bank accts to pay for items inside the store or to pay your bills with online...however they do not count as a credit card in any way and are not associated with a visa or master card or american express or anything else. As far as paypal goes, that is easier. I have a paypal acct but no cc. So my paypal is not "verified" with a credit card number but all my personal info is in it and I was able to set up as a verified SL acct with my paypal info even tho its not verified with a cc. I was emailed confirmation from both SL and Paypal when signing up. Paypal said "hey, SL is wanting to start a contract with you so that they can remove money from your back acct thru us when you make charges in thier game". I said "ok" and boom there it was done. With this said, while I'm allowed to use my unverified paypal acct to confirm my identity for SL, I cannot use it to buy lindens. It does show me as "free, verified" but as for using it to buy Lindens, its impossible without having that CC So yes, you CAN get a "verified" SL acct without a CC. And...for the ones who say there should be NO free accts, please. The land I live on is no way free, its just done differently that maybe you would do. I live in a lot I pay teir on to a 2nd party who actually owns that land and pays tiers to SL. So SL is happy they get paid, 2nd party is happy they get paid, and I'm happy I have my land to use however I like. Paying SL directly to live in an area infested with casino's and sex clubs isn't my style. Buying my own sim isn't possible..so I chose to do it this way. I'm free, but definatly not someone taking money OUT of SL. I sell my items and even tho I can't use paypal to directly buy lindens, I CAN use my paypal to send money to my VERIFIED wife to then purchase the lindens for me with the cash she recieved from me thru paypal. Please people, stop grouping people together in a lump sum. SL can find me easily if they need to. Just because we don't all have credit cards, cell phones and american "debit cards" doesn't mean we are all griefers. If you know me at all you'd know that griefing isn't on my list of things to do. I have wayyyy too many other things to do in SL and I'm sure many people in the same position as me feel the same. |

The official BLOG OF SL is ridiculously biased. They will not allow postings they don't want people to read, such as true issues to do with the Lindens and their constant problems within SL. They did away with forums for us to post to and made this OFFICIAL BLOG area, and then pick and choose whose posts will be put up... everything in favor of SL and Lindens, and nothing that may make real people think about what is really going on with SL and their coporate politics, the fact they could care less about anyone here, so long as we are paying the real bucks they make on tier fees, residents who have to pay to own land, selling islands, and fees fees fees, and no real support for customer service, solving of the issues in SL, and their just screwing us all.

Well i said that from the beginning, the end of the forums that were closed, i see it as a two part end of problems for LL, first we cant say things we want to without being policed in the blogs, 2nd we cant interact with each other about problems, both of which are like the proverbial ostrich with its head in the sand, if we cant see or hear you, you and your problems must not exist...just my oppinion for what its worth |
