I hate the little dark cloud that now hangs over everyones head with their name in it.

It really detracts from the scenery.

And the chat bubble is kind of lame too...

The release notes say you can turn that off but since I can't log in I don't know personally.

Edit > Preferences > Chat/IM > Bubble Chat: > set "Opacity" to 0.0.
That'll only get rid of the black background, however. There's not currently a way to get it to revert to the <1.6 style, so names will still bounce around on screen.

The new name tags are annoying, I don't mind the black cloud so much but I do mind my screen getting clogged with names when in a highly populated area, the name bounce is one of the most annoying features SL has ever added, I prefered people's names overlapping, if I wanted to know who someone was I'd just rotate my view around them or put my mouse over them, never saw a big problem with name overlapping.

Agreed! I told them this feature sucked since preview, and I still agree. In a big cluster of people IMO it actually makes it harder to tell what names go with which person, since there no longer is any rhyme nor reason to their position.

Name tags

I agreee the new tags are also to high above the abby.I play alot of tringo and they show up right in the middle of the board and are noot really transparent.so if u click on it it turns your view. I used to like haveing my name there so i Know what group I have active, I really wish there your either lowerer it just above my aavies head or go back to the old way

The older name tag behavior was better.

The new bouncy ones with the background turned transparent would be better than they are now if you could make the letters closer to the avatar.

But still, the old ones, while not perfect, were much better.

Does the little pointer thingie at the bottom of name balloon still appear if you turn the backgrounds off?
