I'm having trouble selecting things and editing linked parts, especially around trees. When I click on an object next to a tree, it selects the tree itself, even though it's quite far away. Makes building pretty bleak proposition.

I've been having problems with this lately, in 1.8 too.
A possible workaround is locking everything and enabling "select only movable".
Also, drag-select seems to work better.

I've noticed this too! I see it if I try to look at the hovertips for a parcel of land, or an object on the land. It consistently acts as if I'm mousing over a tree, even when the nearest tree is pretty far away. Makes it more difficult to do maintenance-related stuff on our group land.
