....to post this but, I am running SL on Windows Vista ( formerly Longhorn ) and so far it is actually running better on this than it ever did on XP. Just thought perhaps Linden would like to know. In fact I didn't even have to install quicktime to get media working.

That is because the current ATI drivers have a not-yet-implemented tag on their ENTIRE OpenGL support *snif* I just wiped my Vista Beta-2 install and went back to XP where I can _play_ my fave obsession on my ATI-powered hardware. But I have heard from other (Nvidia based) friends that Vista is giving them better framerates than XP did

I did not have any issue playing SL under Beta 2 with my gForce 7600GT, although I did not track the exact average fps, but under XP as well as Vista it is smooth with all the nifties turned on.

I wish SL would run with Windows Pro X64. Sadly I have a awesome system sitting here and can not play on it because of the lack of support for this. X64 format is not new. Its been out now for over 4+ years. Yes, more recently supported in the last 2 years. Drivers are not hard to get now at all. So instead I sit here playing on a much lower scale computer while my good one collects dust.. !

You could install 32bit XP on the good machine and watch it fly To put this into context, Second Life it not alone in not running on 64bit editions of XP - another example that springs to mind is Microsoft's own Visual Studio, which can build apps for XP54, but not on XP 64! So, if MS are still working on it, then I think that a LOT of other developers are very justified in not yet having support in place
