No-script zones dangerous to vehicles

It used to be that a running script will stay running as you pass into a no-script zone. Now it's not the case. All scripts get suspended, even those in attachments. I made a simple endless counter and it froze the moment I went near the welcome area at Ahern/Morris.

This is going to kill vehicles completely. They'll cut out the moment they enter a no-script zone. Those that rely on impulse support will crash.

Fantastic against griefers ... but it's introducing a whole new set of problems.

Eek, if scripts are disabled in attachments that take controls there's gonna be a lot of unhappy tinies in the welcome area.

The PURPOSE of a lot of no-script zones is to kill said vehicles.

But they'll do so to all vehicles, even those that are just passing by and will be off the property in two seconds. Even at avatar flying speeds you don't see these zones coming at all so there's no way of avoiding them.

This is most unfair to all vehicle users because there is absoutely no way of knowing where these no-script zones are ahead of time. So you're willing to kill vehicles whose pilots have no way of knowing where the zones are, hence have no opportunity to avoid?

iRL Aircraft are informed of no-fly zones explicitly. SL has no no-fly zone warning signs anywhere.

No Script limits have height limitations for the purpose of not effecting aircraft that are 'passing by'. Linden zoned and owned roads are script supported for vehicle use.

In _ALL_ regards we need more PERMANANT roads and even a couple tracks that are public property spreading through nearly all sims. I'd fully support you in pushing for that endeavor. But not in driving across Joe Avatars private yard just because you are thinking "I wonder whats over there?...".

Honestly, I am sick unto the teeth behind the back teeth with people defending the utterly indefensible right of landowners in SL to stop people from committing the appalling crime of... er, flying over their land.

This is not "your world your imagination", this is "everyone's world everyone's imagination" and if you don't like that, go and play with Blender where nobody else will ever bother you. If you want to live in a massively multi-user world, deal with other people. You have full property rights to do with building anything meaningful already. In SL, people need to fly over your property and your house and prim baby to get anywhere because there are no public rights of way.

Again, what about avatars that are *dependant* on scripts to operate, like tinies, or Extrovirtual ponies, or mecha?

Are you saying Pony Torley has no right to visit the welcome area?

We have no-script areas for a reason. People understand that certain things will NOT function there. Thats the POINT. This includes AOs, guns and SCRIPTS. You're not forced to get something that needs a script to function. You're not forced to take that item to a no-script area.

And Ordinal.. go buy all the land you want and fly over it to your hearts content. Fly over some of the Linden owned areas near the sandboxes. Fly near ANY PLACE THAT YOU ARE WELCOME. Land owners have the right to say you are not welcome on THEIR land. Get your own land if you want rights. "My Land, My Imagination", "Your Land, Your imagination".

I'm in total agreement with Ordinal, SL is a social online game, and continuity of land and the ability to travel from place to place is an integral part of it. Tiers are set up in 2 dimensions, not 3, for a reason.

If you want to buy land and give no one access to it, buy a private island, or go play something else.
