Everybody,
I'm trying to fix the problem where if you type chat text really quickly and press return, the end of your chat line doesn't get sent. Unfortunately, I've been unable to reproduce it here in the office. So I could use your help.
Specifically,
Are there conditions that seem to make this happen? Does it ever happen on Mac? What's your frame rate (Alt-1)? Is it worse when the frame rate is highly variable (Alt-2)? If you can get it to happen consistently, turn on Debug -> UI -> Debug Windowproc and e-mail me your log file. I suspect that WM_KEYDOWN and WM_CHAR Windows messages are getting processed out of order.
Thanks!

Hiya. I noticed that this happens when you suffer from the quicktime lag - run enough Quicktime changes and let your client to slow down to the common speed of a land turtle... then type - there's the bug.
I'll try to send you my windowproc log file.

It happened to me all the time last night... here are possible probs:
The fps what about 5(after viewing video, seems to slow it down) it took it about 2 secs for the text to appear in the box...then if you pressed enter before everything I typed appeared, it would only output the text that was visible.Everything I typed that didnt appear when I pressed enter, appeared in the next message.

It's happened to me after watching a video. It's not so much that your text is cut off, but the keys you strike seem to have a lag of a few seconds.

chat cutoff - vid stream related!

Yes, it certainly starts AFTER you watch some video. If you connect fresh, and in an area where there is no video stream, chat is not a problem. Go watch a bit of video, and 1) Your text display of characters will slow way down, but the 'Enter' gets processed fast - hence the end of what you type is lost. 2) Your general Av walking movement gets slow and jumpy. 3) Flying a vehicle, like a Pod Racer gets VERY slow and jumpy - its like flying thru Molasses! Flying the Pod Racer (decently) is impossible in 1.6. It looks like the vid stream processing is trashing the client. Mem leak?

Last night, it was common error for me too, while watching videos. I am not a fast typist, I dont think typing speed had anything to do with it.
