Hi all,
Signed up recently, finally got to log on (got 10 minutes off from the missus!) and found myself on a small island called Brazil. No one speaks english, no signs are in english and the map doesnt work. I cant shout, i cant get help, i cant teleport...I CANT GET OUTTA HERE!

Please let me know if this is simply an "induction" or am I being punished for "slacking off" when i should be talking about shopping or doing the dishes?

Thanks.

Click on Map at the bottom, type in "Ahern" and hit enter twice, that'll take you to the welcome center.

I think they mean teleports are borked and they can't actually leave.

Try logging out, restarting, hit preferences and check either "log in at home" or whatever it is that allows you to specify a region (I think it's "show my log on location" and then it'll show up as a text entry box that you can type new region names into).

Hi welcome to Second Life... the human 'rat in a maze' programme to ever hit the internet <sarcasm on>

There are 1,000's of places to go and see/explore. Your best bet is learn how to use the search function (search button bottom toolbar). There are headings in the form of tabs, and filter/nested search boxes in most of them, to hone in on something of interest. Use the Teleport button to go there (assuming its functioning).

Providing you are properly attired and as polite as those you meet, just put on a smile and say Hi <insert name here> to anyone you meet. :D

There is a technical term for this...

It is know as the GILLIGAN EFFECT. There is no way off the island. If you build a raft it will sink because the coconut glue you use will melt in the saltwater. If you try to repair the radio it will get snagged on your fishing pole and you will toss it into the surf while attempting to cast for lunch. All you can do is wait it out. Its Brazil, are there any topless beaches with tanned, oily, babes on it?
