updates cause more problems then they fix

Its lovely to see that with our weekly update the grids are all down now ....it seems instead of testing updates to make sure they will update smoothly they rather decide to risk hours of downtime. Its frustrating to see that. I am told it seems with this current upate or someone posted on here earler that the buddy lists STILL do not work.
you have GOT to be kidding me. I was told by second life help that it would be fixed with the latest patch.
if its not fix i urge you all to im a linden or live help untill it is fixed soon. This is redicilous. we cant see whos online and cant hook up with our friends if we cant see the buddy list.
i am conserned this latest patch adds new stuff but what we need now is to stop adding new features and start fixing what already has problems.
all i know is i indeed do feel sorry for all who spend much money on second life only to get poor service and poor custumer support and poor excuses like "they cant reset account passwords via email." We didndt ASK for our passwords to be reset. now thanks to you a ton of people have lost there buddy lists...lindens and other stuff due to that mistake.
and whats funny is instead of fixing the issues already at hand you all keep adding more and more land and more and more features to further complicate the matter. and this is the longest i had to wait to get on second life after a new update...
how much longer will the geniouses take before its back up again?
all i know is in its current state i woudnt recommend this to anyone who has to pay any amount of money for it over say 10 bucks or so. The support is terrible and the lag and other issues and even disipline controll which totally ignores hundreds of incidents while focusing on others
anyways i guess we will all just have to sit and twiddle our thumbs untill they finally figure out how to fix something they broke. Wonderful.
i agree that the updates seem to be making things worse a few months ago there was not that many issues such as lag and friends list issues and disconnecting.
now it seems thats all you hear about.

You misunderstand, we're the testers of LLs new code. That it always results in downtime that we, the customer, pays for, doesnt seem to concern them.

Paid account for a year in advance (it may take that long to play again. heh) Also bought Lindens to buy land for my group and can't get in to build things so I can try to make up for the extra cost per month. I was going to tell my friends (both in other games and rl friends) to join up, but I'm seriously rethinking that now. If it were only play money, I probably wouldn't feel so disappointed :/ I realize that every game has it's advantages and disadvantages. This one, though, really does rely heavily on the real cash outlay. Granted, it's my choice to have made those decisions, but if this is something that occurs as often as the posts imply, I'm going to be pretty p.o'd. At least implement some Lindens/cash futures trading so when the grid is down, I have something to do

Well if you listen to the suck up posts everything is hunky dory and LL is doing a good job. Guess they probably are on a free account or have very little time and money *INVESTED* in SL or do not build/create the content they think LL is creating but in actuality is the very customer base that is so mad. Not necessarily the best place to do it but well it’s done.
While I agree with them on the certain points, this is a very complicated piece of software and hardware to keep running the methods and QA they are using are pathetically abysmal. The love method they use to work on stuff needs to be scrapped. I think that is a basic problem with how things are done.
Eliminating avenues of making feelings known also is not a wise move but then again it is their company to do with as they like even if it means frustrating people to no end and getting them to slowly leave.
I could say I would leave if there was something better and I might just do it but I won't threaten it just no point to it. I really would like to see some improvement to how things are done now because they *JUST ARE NOT WORKING* and I really wish they would see this but they don't.
I watched another game use this kind of QA and they basically condemned themselves to mediocrity when they had one of the best games around, now… no one cares about them and though they still exist... Barely, they will never be what they could have been and were rising to.
All we can do is hope that things will change though I am pretty sure they won't and in the meantime there is a slow attrition of the paying player base(paying players not free account alts created just because). So it comes down to deal with it or don’t and I would prefer not to walk.

I hear you, and it does really get frustrating when real money and real work hours come into play. It was set up so that anyone can play for free, but for those entrepreneurial types like you (and hopefuls like myself), it can mean a hard one-two punch to the gut.

I'm in agreement as well on threats of leaving. I've done that schtick with CC companies whose APRs are way out of whack with my credit rating, but I'm always prepared to actually follow through if they don't bring things back in line.
It looks like I got here 2 years too late, but I'm hoping this is just the low point where things bounce back again (though, truth be told, no other game I've played works that way, unfortunately).

Just got into the game and jeeze how can they break so much in an update, the chat focus is back so now I am jumping around if I use the camera control which I use constantly... this took a month to fix the last time they broke it I really don't want another month of jumping around and running off in odd directions when I use the camera controls... sigh...
Textures missing from the database. Textures in my inventory that are now white with texture missing written on it, a friend of mines skin is missing the face and lower body it's white with texture missing on it... cripes...
My spinning objects are on full throttle and no way to slow them down and this is just what I noticed in the first 30 seconds of logging on.

In addition to all that, i have experienced MASSIVE and constant packet loss upwards of 50% on my 5mps connection....this has never happened before....
I also was randomnly teleported once, then the teleport function completely broke, and i was stuck in a walking animation...HUGE lag worst than I've ever experienced in SL, and that's saying a lot....
Well, I always expect teh upgrades to require upgrades and patches, but this is easily the worst upgrade I have ever experienced...maybe the game will become stable again sometime next week....heheh....

Yeah I noticed the huge packet loss as well, I just don't see how such massive bugs get moved to live so often just shows a lack of QA or they just don't care which I find hard to believe.
