Not disconnecting on log off

Yesterday I found my computer was getting slower and slower while trying to make a texture. I closed everything except the graphics program I was using, but I was getting hangs and lag, so I opened up my task manager... to find four, count 'em, FOUR SecondLife.exe open in my task manager. I closed them and the probem was solved.

I've ben checking since then, and the automatic disconnect seems to be borked. Whether this is just me or everyone, I dunno, but I am wondering if it is responsible for some of the lagggg I have had in the last few days - certainly my computer was a lot happier when I disconnected.

I looked at the Jira to report it. I am not a techie and I can't even see whether someone else has reported it, let alone how to report it myself.

yep this happens to me too. My man went to find me and I was actually in 2 different places lol, and way lagged.

how could you be in 2 different places?

Ii have experienced this too. At first i thought it was a Restrained Life viewer bug only but have since realized that it happens with regular SL too and that i need to check the Task Manager for extra copies running whenever i am start up SL.

I have realised that the background sound of SL persists when the client hasn't shut down properly.

I happens to me off and on. When I first discovered it ...seemed to happen everytime I logged in. Then it stopped happening for some reason. Now it just does it every other time or so. I check everytime I log off now..if it is still in my processes I kill it. Totally weird!!!!?

**Edit to add that it happens in the RC 2.4....and when I was running RC 2.5 it happened. I had to dump that one as I could not function in SL without crashing..nor could I TP anywhere in the off chance I was not crashed. What I'm trying to say is that it does not seem to matter if it is the current client or the RC clients.

Does this happen on a Mac, as well? I have been having an horrendous experience in the last few months.

Due to the unforgiveable memory leaks in the SL Client, through bad programming, a portion of the client remains active in memory and will not easily give that memory up. This is ascerbated when you use Voice, as SL not only needs to log off the client, but the voice programme as well.

You may also notice the programme can crash in memory after a minute or so, after you log off (in Vista). I get notification of this nearly everytime. I put it down to LL missing me soooo much, they don't want me to go
