Mouseover Glows Removable

They bug me. I don't like how they look. The make the thing that has the glow on it brighter but it is washed out looking.

Possibly people who need the mouseglow effect might want to try mouse trails, and different mouse cursors, and perhaps animated mouse cursors as well. I hate all of that too so maybe you would find it useful. I mean that seriously, not as a joke.

I wish we could make the background for mouseover bubbles transparent, the same as for names and chat.

What is Mouseover Glow?

The term "Mouseover Glow" as it is being used by the thread starter is not something with text that comes up in bubbles that has a background.

Mouseover Glow is the lighting up of the buttons and other graphic elements as the mouse cursor passes over them. You can see the controls the mouse cursor is on get brighter. Mouseover Glow does not "have" words, although the control it appears on may have words on it. Mouseover Glow brightens things up when the mouse is over them.

The problem with it from the viewpoint of visual clarity is that it decreases the contrast in the control's image when the mouseover glow effect is invoked. If the image is already fairly pale and low contrast to start with the image becomes nearly pure white, extremely washed out, making the image more difficult to recognize. The effect is quite noticeable, especially in the icons used to select the various prim types, i.e. cubes, prism, tetrahedron, quadrahedron, cylinder, cylindrical wedge, cone, cut cone, sphere, hemisphere, torus, tube, ring, tree, and grass, in the object editor when it is in create mode as it is when brought up with control 4.

Mouseover Glow makes the program much harder for me to use. I can't see the things that are brightened up clearly because the contrast is reduced so much. Mouseover Glow makes it harder for me to see what the mouse cursor is over. I can see a bright box but the image is much more difficult to percieve. Put the cursor over the cone icon in the object editor and observe the reduced contrast in the image.

Could we please have the Mouseover Glow effect made optional?
