How's the gray loading texture problem doing post 1.8?

I have had some bad gray loading textures problems, loading textures lasting for minutes.

This shot of Sandbox Cordova is rather unexpectedly gray in the ground texture - the area around Cordova, Gogue, and Newcombe are usually very fast areas due to to the general lack of objects and textures , assuming the mad scripters haven't gone wild.

I've had this problem today too, with no discernable pattern thus far.

Also related: my attachments not appearing for a long time after a TP.

Grey problems as well :/
12-15-2005 18:45
I came first to the forums to see if there was any news on the update. I see now that other people are having the same ingame problems as me. Not only do I have a problem with the grey 'default' texture - I have problems with textures period!

After my last login, which was 3 hours previous, I cannot see hardly anything now.
I can only make out certain objects and the land here and there...other than that - ALL textures are grey.

I cannot see to build or design because they never load...even after 5 minutes. Does anyone out there kow if there is something being done about this problem? If it has been reported and theya re working on it?

If so, I would LOVE to know any information, game-play is useless atm :/

Thanks!

That would have looked freaky with the old smokey texture..

I really like the gridlines on the floor and get upset when the real texture loads. :(

I just put a yellow filter on my screen and pretend I'm on Picard's holodeck.

Saw this effect in Taco yesterday. A huge area of terrain that should have been snowy ground was just grey grid, well after everything else had rezzed, and stayed that way until after I had gone into Dwellget and shopped for several minutes. We stood around for maybe 5 minutes chatting with others before going into the store, and I tried switching groups, touching the textured area, and other stuff that usually helps things to rez, and nothing worked. But when we came back out of the store, the texture was finally there.

Reminds me of a glitch in 1.7, where I had to look away from a texture in a vendor in order for the texture to load at all. I could select a new item and stare at the un-rezzed picture for several minutes, and it wouldn't rez. But I could switch to a new product, turn and look at the far wall, and turn back to face the vendor, and there it was! And that worked with the one that wouldn't load before, if I switched back to it.

There was a post about this in Hot Line and Philip answered it. He asked where the place was that a pic was sent in of.

So, I went to two different places, took pics and sent them to him. I have found one thing interesting. I can wait to take the pic say 20 min or more and as soon as there is the click of the camers all comes into focus. Until then I have the lack of color. Strange!

I'm still filing bug reports about gray cardboard collision particles instead of sparks, gray rectangles with white outlines in profile pictures, all of the profile pictures, on the map, even in the screen shot area of the bug report dialog box itself.

textures suck since 1.7.

eventually they rez, but take longer to do so and may revert to grey a few minutes later.

i am sick of the grey boxes with white boarders :(

I understand, they greatly detract from my enjoyment of the program.

Had I seen gray textures everywhere when I started almost two years ago I might not have stayed.

The gray collision particles are unbearably stupid, not being able to bend a bit to keep the spark textures locally all the time is an example of streamist dogmatism.

I've finally given in and have begun building with only the "can't be arsed to send you a texture" grey-box-with-white-rectangle texture. Sure, my pre-fabs, flowers, and clothing are a little monotonous and drab, but they do remain consistent.

Heh, not a bad idea. I may do the same. ;)

Either that or I should find some way to write the gray default texture into the Holy Writ of the Lag.

This makes me feel better to know I m not the only one with this problem.

I have been knocking my head to pieces over it.

Then I can assume It's a bug and not me. right?

I filed my 15 or so bug reports for gray loading textures in buildings and gray cardboard sparks yesterday - did you?

Funny thing for me is that textures load very rapidly in most of my sim (where I live...don't own it)...almost seamlessly.
But there is a fragment of the sim where I can see a hint of the white box-around grey dealie everyone hates.

It took over 6 (six) hours for the snowball thrower i got at the Winter Festival snowball fight to change from the default gray texture to white.

6 hours is a bit much.

I have been in the store I am shopping in for 15 minutes. I am done shopping. I am ready to leave.

There are still gray loading textures on display where the merchandise textures should be.

The money and effort spent by the content creators to produce the store and the very well done merchandise and the very nice displays are not being well served by Second Life's serious decline in display capabilities.
