the way the rotation handles jump out is awesome. that's going to save alot of pain. the double axis drag things are neat too but i can't think of much use for them yet.

one thing tho......is it just impossible to free drag something anymore? i can't get anything but the selection box to come up. i'm missing the whole click and drag and hold control for vertical movement. it's great not to worry about a casual click to select moving your stuff but is there an optional way to free drag anymore?

also what's the logic when you choose Select Texture? when i have an object already selected and choose that it sometimes selects all the textures like usual, sometimes only selects one face (top of a cube) and sometimes doesn't select any textures until i click a face.

new grid rules like nobody's business. why is the rotation "grid" only there when you have Use Grid checked instead of all the time tho? a lil bit inconvenient.

that's cool that we can edit individual prims in a link set a little more now. looks like there's no way to move it around tho, only rotate and scale. i know we could scale prims in a linkset before but i don't remember if we could rotate. it would be very nice to be able to drag them around without unlinking too. also there's no undo. control-Z works fine for unlinked prims but it won't undo my changes to prims in a linkset. very inconvenient.

rotating the parent of a linkset sucked in all the child objects until they were on top of it. (????)

i take that back, we can drag. the thing is the drag handles don't show up when i check Select Individual then click a prim. i have to right click it and choose edit before i get them. and then the Position button is checked and not Select Individual but it still edits that prim in the linkset. bug?

tried it some more and looks like you have to check Select Individual, click the prim in the link set, then turn off Select Individual by clicking Position again. very weird and confusing. Select Individual should be all you need to edit individual prims in a linkset and Position should only be for the whole linkset.

new texture preview thing is great but the texture thumbnail should not stretch in only one direction when i stretch the window. it should behave like the snapshot preview and keep its aspect ratio. also could we please have an Apply button that puts the current texture on the current face without closing the texture window? i'm going to be reopening that a million times a day. i know about the Apply Immediately check box but it's not the same thing. also the Apply Immediately box doesn't move vertically when you stretch the window.

new color picker is nice. i like not freezing the whole game while i frantically try to pick a color and user presets that save between sessions is just uncommonly cool of you.

the pulldown that replaced the local axis button is nice but i can't figure out what Reference means. any hints?

all in all some nice stuff but umm......i'm glad it's a preview. :D

Oh, is that what happened to it? *sigh* But you can *ignore* that grid if it's in the way (You aren't locked to it.)! There's no need to be able to turn it off, if you ask me. Or maybe they made it forcibly locked in 1.6... I'll have to try it out :>

I like the presets too, although honestly I'd like double the amount (the stock ones are nice to keep around, in my opinion).

All I can say is that I originally mistook it for being able to edit the object locally rather than "permanently" edit it in-world. Oops! XD
I'm guessing you can set a reference point somehow, but I didn't see anything to that effect.

the new built tool are really getting me excited for 1.6, been playing with them a bunch lol, rezing prims and just playing not actually making anything. only thing that jumped out as being not great (other than the color picker) was that prims no longer snap to grid unless you hit shift-x to manually do it (not complaining, being a good beta tester and finding bugs before it is made final). but WOW is the new grid nice to use and all the other build tools, they are gonna save me *loads* of math and relinking stuff lol

you select a prim, hit shift-G. that sets that prim as your reference point. i stumbled on that one in the tools menu lol

I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, or even cares, but I noticed problems when changing between modes. For instance I would rez a few prims, resize/rotate them, then shift select them all. At this point, I wanted to switch from global to local mode for rotating, so I changed the selected option in the drop down. The axis orientation didn't actually change from global to local until I unselected and reselected everything. This doesn't allow for quick building that requires switching between modes. I would like to see the orientation update upon changing the select in the drop down.
