View PvP abuse?

What is wrong with you people!? Okay. I knew Linden Labs was a few cans short of a twelve pack before, but this recent decision is nothing short of utterly moronic.

You've removed the 'View PvP abuse' button with the excuse of 'It was too easy to bump into someone' - Maybe so, but didn't you think about REPLACING IT with something!? Or keeping it the way it was? I mean what are your employee's paid for? Some are paid for support in game ( As worthless as that typically is ), some are paid for going through emails, and some are paid for viewing reports. Aside from the clear distasteful work ethic this company shows I pose this question..

When we're standing in a SIM and a griefer randomly shows up and orbits us one million m into the air or randomly blasts us like twenty SIMs away, HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHO DID IT NOW!? You've utterly defeated the purpose of being able to report things to begin with! If someone orbits you or pushes you, chances are you're not going to know exactly who did it and if the game doesn't tell you, how are you supposed to report them!?

God. What are you people thinking!?

I'm fair and all. Some of the Lindens do their jobs great. There are always companies that have those employee's that do a super job and those that do a straight up crap job, there are always those companies that make mistakes and screw up every now and then but go back to fix them, but this is.. This is just absolutely inexcuseable. Theres no system to tell who attacked you. That defeats even having a report button.

Seriously.. If ANY of you can tell me what you were thinking or what the logic if there even is any behind this other than 'It was too easy to bump into someone and *Whine whine* we got tired of DOING OUR JOBS and going through the report emails to keep the game running decently" then please tell me! For Gods sake, i'd like to know.

They got tired of reading all the PvP abuse reports being sent in?

I don't give a crap. Read the above.

They're PAID to check the PvP abuse reports. They have a support/abuse team for a reason.

Just because I don't like something i'm told to do at my job doesn't mean that I can just randomly quit it and forget about it because I 'don't feel like it'. I'd get fired.

Selene, they own the business. They make the rules.

Not really. They're obligated to customers whom feed money into this game to deliver a service. I have several accounts.

Not that it matters how much I put into this game, I should be a valued customer anyway.. But the fact that i've bought Lindens, pay for several accounts, and feed money into this game and their company means that I am at least entitled to their service on some level.

Not that it's the point. The point is, they're allegedly a business. And no business goes very far with such deplorable work ethic.

I could understand if it was removed for a small bit of time to make room for something new that will be better, but the fact that they've left us with nothing has opened this entire game to be a griefing ground. You know how easily someone could fly above a SIM and just bomb the hell out of it without anyone knowing who it was? Thats inexcuseable. It's like they've suddenly said "You know that TOS? Bull. Do whatever you want."

if the lindens are gonna replace the VIEW PVP ABUSE they are moving too slow...the update just came out less than 48 hours ago....already the completely evil ORBITERS have been launching people in the FurNation Sandboxes have been more active then before. and if anyone has been hit by an orbiter....it puts your av up about 1.6million meters on the z axis...this area is where your av twists and your attachments vertually become something from MXLPLXZ's dimension...the alternate dimension from Superman where everything is twisted and too strange to identify...and even if a friend TP's you back to the ground...your av is still messed up and you have to relog....

well yes...in less than 48 hours we have had use of orbiters double and we admin officers of FurNation do not know who is using them to ban them from the place...so Lindens...my pose to you is....DO NOT WAIT for the next update (1.10.6) to replace this....on behalf of all the private sim owners and their officers.....put it back ASAP!

Yes, they are obligated to satisfy their paying customers. And no, I don't think there is a work ethic problem, per se, and I don't think it's an issue of some Lindens being better at their jobs than others.

LL's management is making decisions and setting priorities that we don't agree with. If it were anything else but that, it would be easy to fix. I think there is some sort of agenda playing out here. I don't know what it is, but I know that no amount of complaining by us is going to help.

Relative links in your footer do not work, Seronis. You need to put in the full forum URL to link to another thread.

Thanks for everyones support who has spoken up so far. The more people who are behind on this the more likely Linden Lab is to actually listen to us.

By Management...
07-01-2006 04:51
By management, you mean Michael, right? It seems like he's the only Linden around that's actually doing anything, which isn't much to begin with. Whoever made this decision to pull PvP Abuse just ruined Second Life for me and about a thousand other users who don't sit around orbiting poeple for sick and twisted fun. I mean, I'm not going to say I never got upset and orbited someone, but for the love of God, to sit there and set an auto-orbit auto-push auto-F*CK MY GAME UP in the LANDNING POINT AND ALL SURROUNDING AREAS OF A SIM, is a good way to show you that the minute you give someone the ability to do something unidentified on the internet, they're going to abuse it. LL didn't take into account (idiotically) that there are going to be people on the internet who enjoy doing stuff like this because it allows them to be a total jerk-off without virtually ever getting caught. (How are we supposed to file an abuse report anyways, if we don't know who's doing it? Oh, we're going to say.. "Someone's oribiting me" so when they go to review it two days later, they'll really know.)

You guys need to do something, because this is totally... TOTALLY unacceptable. You're endangering countless communities that exist in SL by saying "You're on your own." We don't have the tools to ward off griefing bastards that want to TP to our sim and say "ORBIT ORBIT ORBIT".

P.S. I'm waiting for some Jerk Linden to say "That's what the new Account Billing Info is for". You think people care to not use a billing info account when they can still orbit you and remain undetected? DUH.

my freind frost white and i have put together a script about 6 months ago. A Complete replacement for the PvP abuse logger. The reason why we did this is because the client one doesnt save the information if you crash or relog. The scripted one will. Now that this happened i might as well add the script to the Scripting Library Forum. Basicly it detects bumps and pushes and tells you the name of the person and the object that hit you (Griefer Joe has hit you with a Active/Scripted Object named Bullet).

Until i add it to the library you can snag a copy here on my website until the webmaster decides to kill it. :/

I agree, Kristoph. Very few Linden do any good. Their presence within SecondLife seems utterly useless.

I've seen an increase in shooters.
In fact I had to place even more high rate scanners with auto-ban in order to protect my place.
It won't be long and I'll have to use a database script to do "Ban on demand" to get over the 50 avatar limit.

Thanks for the push script, I'll look into modifying it to do email? to the security system. I can then give it out free to my patrons.

If LL does not care about orbiting people, then security scripts can do the same.

Since I spend real $$$ to buy about $2,000L per day, grefiers attacks actually reduce how much I am spending.

PvP Abuse, aka "SHOW and KNOW", will be back--but likely without the "Report Abuse" button within it which resulted in many, many false abuse reports. More explanation is in some of my past forum postings (wish there was an easier way to reference my posts). :)

Apologies for the pain it's caused in the interim; many Lindens, including our frontline Liaisons, were affected, and it's made our jobs harder as a result too. We all have the same goal of striving to promote a safer, more pleasant Second Life.

Great news, Torley! This is exactly what we need! The "Report Abuse" button is not needed at all, but the names are. I greatly appreciate this decision!

Now that theres now View PVP abuse button.. all the mafia, gangs and punks have come from the woodworks to attack the Playboi Mansion now.. Its rediculous, now i cant even ban someone for orbiting every person in there.. If im gonna pay money for the land i own, or the land i assist payment on. I wanna atleast be able to know whos messing with it and the people on it.

I suggest to put the button back in.

ok this post was changed before i got a chance to hit the submit post button. But im glad that we have an answer to our problems.. for now, we just gotta suck it up till we get something new.
