Yes, it is as simple as that....just a quick test...go into your debug (or turn it on using CTRL+ALT+D) Go down to Rendering>Types>Bump
Switch that off..and anything shiny whether it has a mump map or not, dissapears. So separating those two might be a good idea. Also, at 700M and not highly populated, I am getting a 3.0 fps...with shiny/bumpmap on(In Prefs). and also checked as On in the Debug. Ok here is the deal... I switch off shiny/bumpmap (in Prefs), my fps goes up by maybe 2. Then I head to Debug..switch it off there...WOW I jump from a max fps of 3.2 to 15-20. Odd huh? seems like its not turning things completely off clientside thru prefs, but debug has an instantaneous effect. But back to topic..it would prolly be very helpful to separate the shiny from the bumpmappin as i know the bump mapping is killing me.
