I just had to kill the SL task, it took more than 1.5 GB and eating more and more Memory.
It happens quite often these Days...
I wonder if LL can fix that ? its very hard to track down a Bug like this.

*sends a Bug Report*

No.

Ah ok. I assumed because i've seen videos where someone removed the coolant fan while running a FPS game. The frame rate droped quite a bit. In another section the CPU began to smoke. I noticed ram causes the same results with frame rate if it you don't have enough to do what your doing, so i figured naturally it would have the same effect.

*cough* The coolant fans don't cool your ram, they cool your CPU.

Hehe they will just say its his computer. Just like every other game developer does. :P I think it's a bit of developers pride getting in the way. My game couldnt possibly blow up your computer.. It's much nicer then that. ;p

SL client memory behaves as if it has bad leak
09-13-2006 00:38
It seems to me that a primary piece of evidence that the SL client leaks memory (fails to properly release, then reuse memory) would be that it behaves differently over time with respect to the swap file during application switches (alt-tab switches). My Dell swaps applications happily at the beginning of an SL session (everything in a crowded area properly rezzed) and does so quickly without using the swap file, hence without writing memory to disk. However, after about 1 hour of SL--same applications open--switching applications causes major swap to disk and thus significant delays while this is happening. It used not to do this with my 1G of memory. (Back when I had 512M of memory, it behaved like this for all application switches at all times during a session.) It does not depend on the application. PaintShopPro with a 1 Meg tga file open, IE, and Winamp are running at the beginning and at the end of the 1 hour period. It can also be Word, Excel, and Opera. Alla time, same same.
