From release notes: "Steer your avatar more smoothly while walking by left-clicking on yourself and driving with your mouse."
Is this working for anyone else? I'm on a Mac os G5.

I tried that but it didn't work for me...I guess I need to get my SL 'drivers license' to drive my avatar properly.

You click on your avatar's head and tape "W" with the chat box closed ... it took me a little bit to figure it out; but then again I'm not on a Mac so maybe it doesn't work for you guys.

Works for me, and I'm on a Mac. Just hold down the UpArrow to start walking, and click-hold on your av to steer with the mouse. It's actually very cool, except that it takes two hands. It would be nice if you could walk and steer with just the mouse. Maybe I can remap a button on my mouse. Oh yeah, no vertical movement is frustrating - you can only mouse-steer your yaw, not your pitch.

You can also hold alt down whilst clicking with the mouse, as you would to zoom in with the camera. Keep the mouse button pressed, use the up arrow to move and steer with mouse.

Heh.. This was the feature I'd most cheered about. Being used to the controls of FPS-type games, I found the third-person view very clunky to manuver in, and thus navigated almost exclusively in Mouselook. But with the new steering feature(and the improvement on it in 1.6.1), I don't have to stick in Mouselook anymore!
