Calling cards/ Friends?????

I use the calling cards as a major source of contact and to see if somebody is online or not. Will you be transferring our calling card list to the Big Map?? I use this extensively!!
People are gonna get lost without this!!!!!!
THIS IS MAJOR SOCIAL PROBLEM!!!!!!!! I will have to search out all my old friends again.

When I logged into preview my Friends list was already populated with all of the calling cards I had.

They've renamed the existing calling card list to "Friends". You can exchange cards with "friends" in the same way as befor, there is a new system called "Calling cards" that you can give out without having to get a card in return. Much like an RL business card.

Mine was empty..thats why I panicked. If it gets filled with current calling cards..then I will be a happy camper.

Mine were automaticly switched, and I think LL is intending to do this with launch too.

My suggestion is the following:

In the pie menu, switch Give Card with Add Friend, why?

Because currently there are issues with giving cards, i.e. someone uses it as a social thing "Hey, heres my card!", which then you get spam about them being online, and they can track you if you don't want them too, etc. So as it currently stands, its just had its name changed, which will make no difference.

NOW, Give Card currently in preview, fixes this, it works as it should "Hey, heres my card!" and it tells you their name and has them handy if you need to contact them, but they can't A) see when you're on/offline (yay) B) can't track you (yay) and C) can't tell if you delete theirs (yay!). This is GOOD. This is how calling cards SHOULD BE.

Add Friend should be used for more personal things, when you want them to actualy be, your friend.

Thus, having them in the pie menu as they currently are, is UTTERLY pointless. Because it makes the whole point of changing how calling cards work, useless, since no one will know that Trade Card is in there since rarely do people click More.

Also! We need an icon difference between calling card and Friend in the inventory. Currently theres no way for me to tell if I just have a persons Calling Card, or if I have them as a Friend other than using the Friend dialog.

The Friend dialog also needs to be worked on, but I'm betting that'll come later.

I like the change, I love how I can now differentiate between a simple calling card and actual friends, but I highly dislike the pie menu choice.

I spent some time last night with some folks swapping cards figuring out how friends/CCs works in 1.6. Here's what I've determined:

1) Your CC list in 1.5 gets turned into your 1.6 friends list, plus your inventory has a CC for each of those friends.

2) Friends in 1.6 act like CCs in 1.5 - you get notifications when friends log in/out, you can track them on the map, etc.

3) When you become friends with someone you automatically exchange CCs too.

4) If someone offers me a CC I can accept or decline, and don't need to offer mine in return.

5) You can IM either your friends or your CCs.

6) There is no grouping or folder feature in the friends list, but you can always organize your friends' CCs in the inventory by creating folders there.

I LOVE THIS CHANGE! I've been collecting CCs so I can IM avs about our build contests. I just didn't like how much privacy I compromised doing that. Now I get the best of both worlds! Yippie!

As a suggestion, a grouping feature in the friends list would be nice.

Also, I'd like an LSL function to let an av use an object to offer me their calling card when I'm not around. Somethign like llOfferCallingCard(key from, key to). That way I can put out a box at events and let people click it to give me their card, and I don't even have to be in-world at the time.

Bump, Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaseeeee switch Add Friend and Give Card in the pie menu, this is a major shot in the foot for this change and severly limits its impact on anything.

Why not put Offer Calling Card in the top menu item of the first pie instead of putting it in the More pie? The top item is blank in the first pie.

Thats a good idea as well, my guess would be though that that pie menu option is blank to us, but not to Lindens when in "God" mode. So putting anything there would be either an extra step, or impossible.

The thing is, if you saw Give Card, and Add Friend, which would you chose? Not knowing what Give Card did at first? I would most likely do Add Friend, which is all good and fine, but then the person feels rejected when you say no.

Bump to second this. Especially for those of us who spend a lot of time helping out at the WA, it's painful to tell noobs that you will give them a card but don't want to add them to Friends. Please put "give card" on the first pie menu and "make friend" on the sub menu.
