Please give us our stable version back until you have 1.7 working! I realize there are many bugs to work through, as with any new release. However, does this have to be done in the production grid? As a builder, it is impossible to do anything right now. Textures are taking forever to rez, sometimes over a minute. :(
I'll be happy to debug in a preview grid and help you work these issues out there.

To my understanding... it is only temporary and it will happen with all updates. Things need to settle down again.

Hunter, you've been around as I have. :) Remember what happened at the beginning of 1.6? The key here is not to retreat in fear with a rollback, but to keep surging forwards, crushing bugs in the way. It's inconceivable to think some improvements can or will take place without community feedback too—look at all the things that've been pointed out in this very forum that wouldn't have gone noticed under "theoretical" situations! 1.7.1 should have improved textures loading... I noticed it myself, and there's more on the way. :)

You'll make the problem twice as bad if you roll back to 1.6 and then back to 1.7, and if you did, we'd never move forward, there are some bugs that can only be worked out in the main grid.

I know you're right Torley, it's just very frustrating.

Oh wow, texture rezzing taking over a minute at times? Sounds like a friggin miracle to me since I've waited well past an hour for textures to rez if ever since 1.7 came out...

I agree, and I'm frustrated too. :( I spent the last few days in "the great gray gridstorm of 2005" and as someone who appreciates builds in SL... it was just a real PITA not to see much at all!

I am furious at the problems and want to pummel them into submission. It's good we're calling out what's wrong on here, so attention can be drawn constructively to it and schtuff can be fixed. :)

Keep filing bug reports for things you notice too! :D

I have to agree with the OP - texture loading is incredibly slow - sometimes they don't even fully rez at all. This becomes extremely frustrating when trying to create new clothing and skins...

I'd almost wish they'd put a version of 1.6 on the preview grid - lol.

You know what would be funny? Being able to emulate older SL environments somehow... perhaps we could go back to 1.1 or even LindenWorld.

I don't know if any of you were affected by the cut prims changing texture properties, but I was and it was on some house I have for sale. So when it originally happened I called a Linden to show them, but they were obviously busy with the grid problems so I filed a bug report. Being customer-focused, I went to all my customers who had recently purchased a house and I fixed all the prims..including the ones in my inventory as sale items and I reloaded all my vendors throughout SL with the fixed product.
As you know, They came out with a fix a few hours later which reverted all affected prim properties back to their original state. Now all the fixes were un-fixed and I had to repeat the whole process over again. With texture rez times in the stratosphere, mind you!
Thus is the cause of my frustration.
I read in another posting that things will settle down if we give it time, but I can't make any sense of that. Being a digital media, how can that happen? Are the bits and bytes on my drive and on the server drives suddenly just going to start working right? It's not like a baseball glove that needs to be broken in to be optimal...or is some master program like 'Tron' gonna just run rampant over the drives and make all the bytes stand at attention?
I guess I just don't get it.

Wouldn't they have to take back anything we've bought within the past week too if they did that?? I don't wanna lose my stuff. I'm not in favor of a rollback, but I'm here to say it's still not working for me, even with 1.7.1
