The new viewer crashed my display driver every 2 minutes. My computer support says my driver is current. How do I get the old viewer back?

I am getting downright upset with this newest viewer. SL keeps crashing saying its my display driver but I checked with the manufacter website and I have the most current driver. I never had this problem before this last version. Where can I get the old viewer?

Here is the link to Nicholaz Beresford's site. He makes alternate versions of the Linden Viewers that many find work better. He also has links where you can downoload old Linden Viewers going back to 18.0

My recommendation for the last viewers is 1.18.53. Its a stable viewer with lesser bugs then the last few beta releases. Lindens can state as long as they like, new viewers are more stable then the older versions. Any beta release is a patchwork of new errata! I told them many times to make different viewer versions especially in front of ATI and Nvidia users. Twice viewers can reduce the amount of bugs faster and makes each version finer tuned over a longer time. :D

Lindens, the 1.19 was a little mess, depending its functions between the different releases. 1.17 viewers where better adjusted (taken by my senses) then 1.19xxx versions. With 1.19.14 i have still up-locked scripts and mis showed menu's. And all version up of 1.19xxx i didnt try. Hard to get the right one and difficult to make the good one ;)

On windows xp you can roll back your old graphics driver, go to the device manager and right click it to open a popup window. There you have the choice to rollback the driver.
The 2nd possibility is start xp with the "last known functioned version" (sorry i translate this from german to english and in the german version its a bit different spelled), mostly sensefull after a soon before updated driver. After two weeks per example i guess you cant start up xp with this function again. Its system recovery stores the files for a few days, after they will be deleted or exchanged with newer files.
Remember to clean up your registry for lost or unused driver files, otherwise (especially ATI drivers) will reuse some of the old driver files again! Its necessary to clean them before you install a new ati driver! Between that when the xp standard driver for the card is installed you have time to do that. That is my best experience i maded with ati drivers in the last 10 years im using ati cards.

You can find the old versions of SL quickly by putting

second life wiki old versions

into Google or yahoo.

Near the top of the search results will be a link to a page in the Second Life wiki where the old versions are listed in a nice well organized table.

The url for this page of links to old versions is very easy to remember, obviously made to be easy to remember.

The url is http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions

There's a confusing and useless indented list at the top of that page. Scroll down past that and there's an easy to read, logically organized table of download links for old versions of Second Life viewers.

So, if you bookmark http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Old_versions then you will never need to look for where to get old versions again, but...

If you can't remember the exact url, just remember what you are looking for: the page in second life wiki with the old versions, then go to a search engine and use

second life wiki old versions

as the search term.
