I have no need to see them changing all time. It is visually distracting. It breaks immersion.

A keystroke to toggle them off and on would be fine.

Also, why not throw in the z coordinate as well.

And pad the numbers with spaces so the position of the text doesn't move as you switch from 1 digit to 2 digit to 3 digit coordinates.

And enable us to copy it to the copy buffer for pasting in as desired.

So there's my new request, include the z coordinate, make fixed width fields for each coordinate, and make it toggleable and copiable.

I've also requested the Z-coordinate.

How do you feel about having the option to make them not display?

I don't like seeing the numbers changing. The numbers changing on the minimap were not distracting. Barely readable, in fact, which I suppose is why they got moved.

If toggleable is too much bother at least make the display fields fixed width. then the digits changing won't make too much difference visual clutter and distraction wise.

If they can put the coordinates there, how about finding a nice place to display and control the draw distance while they have their shoehorn out?

Like a number of things in SL, I do wish it could be a toggleable choice. It is, after all, in 1.6.x to a degree (hide the Mini-Map).

Continuously displayed precise coordinates could have implications for avatar sex.

Instead of vague phrases such as "Harder harder!" one might hear ".01 meters further back, .02 meters further forward!"

------------------

I am thinking of someone who worked hard to make a pleasant place with a quiet atmosphere for other people to come and visit and relax. It was a tree lined place with running water and wind sounds, a place meant for contemplation. The continuous display of position information would be a detriment to the mood that person was trying to create.

So noted. And reasonable. I fully support. :)

Cosmetically speaking

I can't say it looks nice....

It is handy because if you where lost you could say exactly where you are *shrug but you can do the same with the mini map open.

There isn't a single feature in SL that would bother me if it could just be turned OFF.

wouldn't this be a great candidate for a toggle? OFF, MENUBAR, HUD

Signed. Only difficulty I can see is the copyable part, I have no idea how that could be handled. Any ideas?

Slightly off/on topic, can we also have the L$ balance open up your Account History when clicked? And the clock bring up perhaps the Events listing?

Please, not when clicked. It is too easy to click by mistake. Doubleclick or rightclick and select an option would be fine. One could have an option upon rightclicking the balance to see the account history inworld , your billing credit card history, bring up the account history in a web browser, or use that newfangled $Lindex thang them flatlanders been talkin' 'bout.

I have an object that will give me x,y,z coords and that is just fine. Why add it next to the name? Having the display bound to an object allows me to toggle the option on and off.

I think it's done for reasons of convenience, for new Resis who've not acquired one of these objects yet and are looking to go somewhere. Without coordinates, how do they do this? As the current position is the Mini-Map and an alternate (in globals) would be ABOUT SECOND LIFE, it's nice to have it readily available.
