The RECENT ITEMS folder now is more and more TOTALLY useless, after building alot, buying a lot stuff, deleting packages, etc... the recent items folder becomes crowded like a second inventory - USELESS !
And btw - using 'Landmarks' in the map also becomes more andmore useless, I on and on find there old landmarks I long have deleted already, and not just that - most of them show up up repeated - up to 10 times the SAME long deleted landmark under the other...
yay but we need voice and a monster communication window no one asked for, but looks to me like no one looks into the essential.
more and more starting to dislike SL, you guys at LL are driving it against the wall with full speed at the moment.
WHEN WILL THAT BE FIXED ?

Fixed??
I thought it meant items less than a year old.
That's why all my inventory items are in it.

try going into Reset Filters of the Recent Items tab, you need to (re)configure it. this feature was added few updates ago.

This is fixed in the latest release, 1.18.2 (0).. if your Recent Items tab is still messed up, walk through this:
1. Open the Recent Items tab 2. On the inventory window, open File > Show Filters 3. Check the box labeled 'Since Logoff' 4. Relog without crashing

A further expansion.. you can set the days and hours of what items you want to see using expansive filtering , to be fair, when they get it right, they get it right.... A neat function.

I know about the filters, but something regularly messes up or I wouldn't 'rant' here...
When I do the following: - reset filters - set to 'since logoff' - end SL client - login again
the recent items folder is empty (as it should be then), but - it' doesn't keep this filter settings, it starts filling up again after that with every use of SL...
I'd expect that if it is set to 'since logoff' this would affect every log off/log in...
for me it only does how it should if I repeat the procedure mentioned above, if I do that and then let the filter on 'since logoff', soon recent items is filled again - oh yes, and I uninstalled everything, reinstalled viewer completely new a dozen times, cleared cache a hundred times (all what you are supposed to do if something is messed up...) - it has all no effect, 'sibce login filter' works exactly one time..., then I have to mess with the settings again - frustrating...

I hope you don't get frustrated by my suggesting this, but it's the only thing I can think of... is it a possibility that you need to relog twice, once after applying the setting and once again after that?
Other than that, you are using the latest viewer?
Hmm, also, since I noticed it working again, I've noticed that after a crash, it still shows items received during the previous session. At least part of the time.

I'd expect that if it is set to 'since logoff' this would affect every log off/log in... ... This bug (VWR-1400, Inventory's Recent Items tab settings should persist across logins) has been fixed internally according to JIRA, so hopefully will be seeing the light of day soon. I don't know whether it was a server or client-side fix. I still see, however, one open bug relating to the Recent Items tab: VWR-813, reported by Torley. In some scenarios you evidently will still see all folder names, even tho they have no recent contents. If you are seeing this, one user volunteered the following workaround, I personally have no idea if it works: "Select "All" to display all folders , then uncheck any single option. (I unchecked Gestures as a persona preference.) All folders except those which actually contain new items will clear away. Seems to work with at least one, or more than one folder options unchecked. This is verified with viewer 1.17.3 (0)"

Nicholaz's most recent "old school" viewer, just released, has fixed all "Recent Items" issues. They should already have been fixed in the voice viewer. http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/

1. Never
OR
2. When someone important gripes about it.
They are too bust worshiping the Tao of Linden to actually accomplish anything useful.

You know... anytime I hear someone bust on the Tao of Linden... I just have to think: There's someone that would never volunteer to do the right thing without being TOLD to do it by management. Anyway. Good people step up and do what's needful. LL's got several of them, but likely not enough.

speaking of Inventory Issues ...
am i missing something? ...
OR IS LINDEN LABS THE ONLY internet/computer company in the world that does not allow you to use the very basic and simple copy & paste protocol in the text bar, when renaming files in your Inventory?
cos from my computer the right-click-copy-&-paste function to rename inventory files does not work, nor does it work from "Edit" at the top of the screen ... it used to work, but not anymore
i even tried "insert" and that failed too!

Here's another one: Start Second Life, don't log in. Open up the "about" window that gives you your system details. Attempt to copy without using ctrl-C as mine doesn't work sometimes--though, it might not be just me, does ctrl-C work there at all?
