I can always find the chuckle in an otherwise grumpy situation. I'm moving down the molasses river after installing this must have "security" fix upgrade and the first laugh hits me. I chose an otherwise normal gesture "boing" and am stuck in it for a solid thirty minutes (mind you, i tried other gestures, flying, stop animation from top menu, stop animation/deformation tools and even siting in a chair - yup, happily boinging the whole time). It took SOMEONE else offering to animate my av for the silly thing to stop. I'm not quite ready to try that again in this new viewer. Once stopped, I looked out to the waves in the water and what do my tired eyes see? Youtube front page is what I see. Everywhere that used to show the missing image or grey.. well, now it shows the same Youtube front page for me. I took pics to share. All sculpties first rez in with this Youtube page and it takes from two (2) to five (5) minutes for the object/sculpty to appear in true form. I've changed webs, rebooted, nothing is taking that silly web page away. While funny as all get out, I can already see that it will get on my nerves rather quickly. I'm also seeing "movement" of av's (say someone performing a gesture or sitting) in almost stop frame slow motion. What on earth? Is this viewer actually that much of a mem hog that it is eating almost 4G of RAM? Is it vista? Am I the only one having the hilarious issues? Ackkkk.... I'm still not happy about the forced upgrade (if ya slowed down on the programing end a wee bit, and studied the infrastructure more closely, these issues wouldn't pull a blindside so often), but at least it gave me a good hearty laugh tonight. Tomorrow.. well that is yet another day.

I find it stange whenever I do a viewer update nothing majorly wierd happens at all, last one I had problems with was 1.12. something in Nov06, SL must work better from Australia than the US It is also strange how often the some people can have problems for 12 months continually with every update and still conclude it's still the viewer or server code, not their system or connection.

[gawd i hope i spelt everything right, or they will make fun of me for lack of better excuse or comeback] Cool by me, I didn't accuse US or any country of being arrogant at all, maybe the servers are actually right nextdoor in Japan (would LL liez to it's uzers?), maybe some expertz can explain why SL does work better for some people despite the distance difference, then again, maybe my ISP is one of the better ones or by some fluke in an etheral quasitransdimensional network freeway or something. I'm just suggesting that when some people declare SL is unusable while 50k are online, they may be able to make improvements to save themselves a lot of repeatitive grief. And it's an evolving world so if people are having problems they should plan to upgrade their PC in advance as anyone playing WoW or CoH would do if they want to continue playing after major upgrades, bearing in mind SL's graphics demands make them look like running Doom1. Stuff the spelling, I just can't type for crap.

Sooooo.... In your best estimation, the issues I've had with this new viewer (first problems I've had since entering SL) are most likely due to an inadequate system or connection provided by my service. Thanks for that input, it's appreciated. Oh! While I'm here, I'll add the other quirk I noticed last night. Voice. As mentioned, I run Vista (happily) and when others were dropping voice, hearing broken voice, losing voice upon tp, I was zooming right along with no problems. Each time I tp-ed or even sat down in a chair last night, I would lose voice capability for at least a minute. Oddly enough, this is an issue that users with higher end systems than mine were having before this upgrade - issues that didn't affect me at all. Meh, perhaps I'll take Argus' advice and submit a ticket to find constructive assistance.
