I rarely complain about lag because it's in every game, but lately I've had very annoying lag.
In my home sim where maybe 5 people live and most of the land is owned by Governer Linden, I'm lagged out so bad that I can't teleport anywhere. I have to walk to the next sim to TP. The same thing has been happening at my store, but I figured it was the casinos and clubs lagging me out. At my home, there is no one and I get stuck.
Are you guys doing something funky to the servers? I mean I just upgraded my computer and graphics card. I've tried the game on multiple computers and I still get the same results.

call a live helper, explain whats going on, and see if they will reset the sim for you. Most will do it, that always seems to work if theres a bad lag issue. Also have them check for some chunky scripted textured to hell thing that could be causing a lag issue in the sim.

Lag has been very bad lately, I'm having the same problems in most sims SL wide. it's related to the odd packet loss issues.

The lag/packetloss issues are unbearable now. I tried to update my JEVN servers today.... I gave up after 2 items. Opening the notecard alone took 5 minutes each, why? Well maybe it was my packetloss bar being maxed out permanently. My sim has 6000 free prims, its not cramped not everything is in one little space, pacels dont use more prims as they support.... I feel extremely worthless as a customer and err cheated on too. Its been 3 days since the update and we havent heard any real news about how to fix it? (or at least i did not find it eventhough I have been looking hard) Moreso we had a huge event in our club, it was a lot work to set it all up but... people could not see it at first because things spawned in too slow or then the lagged out. COmmunication itself is getting more and more annoyin there are those hours where every other sentences gets lost in cyberspace because of the packetloss.
I really hope to see some improvements here right now I cant remember why I am paying 400 Dollars tier a month. I really think that the current version needs a good big fix!

Lag is so bad I lag-out or crash-out (that is, the client crashes to the crash logger) ANYTIME I teleport via landmark. Offered teleports work for me.

I'd love to know where (or if) there is any official Linden posting on lag issues, if they're being worked on, or if they're doing any non-grid work to relieve the lag with the next update.
Yes, more people are on, but if the hype is meant to draw in more people, and then it does, perhaps being prepared for it might be a good thing.
Any official word........anywhere?

I went and checked the daily fps reports for both servers and viewers, and there are no significant changes in either over the last month. Obviously these are averages, however, so there may be individual problems that would be masked by the data.
If you're seeing a significant change in your estate performance, please let the concierge know. Those of you on the mainland who are having difficulties should report the problem in a bug report -- if you can track your fps data for several days that would be very helpful. (Also, please remember you won't get a personal reponse to a bug report, although you may be contacted for more information.)
Cinda - Live Helpers are volunteers, and don't have the tools to reset estates. Best to check in with concierge, or contact a liaison. You can find one by using the search tool for people, type in Linden and ask one of the people online. If they aren't a liaison, they can point you to someone who is. I know this is kludgy, and we hope to add a tag so it's more obvious which Lindens are liaisons.

Robin, are daily packet loss reports generated? What do those show? I don't understand how sim FPS reports show anything since sim fps is fixed at 45. If you have access to real sim performance data and charts of that data, can you post them regularly for us? How do you generate daily client FPS numbers, since you're not on the client end? Does the client report FPS number back to LL? If so, why would you ask us to collect that information for you? Thanks!

Paulie, it's possible that the engineers have a daily packet loss report, and even if not, I know bandwidth is something that is monitored constantly. However, I don't have that data, although I can ask someone tomorrow when the office reopens.
The report I'm looking at shows some minor variance around 45 FPS, but yes it's essentially fixed at that rate.
