Mmm. Feedback -
Management Summary:
Not a useful feature as it stands.

Supporting Justification:
I've not been a resident for all that long, but I've accumulated quite an array of clothing items. The clothing button pops me up a menu of all of them, with very little in the way of organisation. In my inventory, clothing, shapes, skins and attachments are neatly (or not so neatly) sorted into folders. It's the only way I can FIND anything :)

The clothing menu allows me to go back to my old way of doing things....picking through a long list of clothing, finding an item and putting it on. Memory says that the list isn't even searchable like the inventory list.

I know, fixing this requires enabling a new 'type' flag on an inventory folder (to mark it as containing an outfit) then making sure that those folders appear in the clothing menu in some sensible and intuitive way. Add to that, iterating over the contents when the resident wants to wear an outfit. And do you display the contents of those folders seperately? Well, you'd have to, otherwise some worn items would not appear in the list to be removed.

As a programmer, I agree that it is not a task for the faint-of-heart.

Personal Opinion:
Good notion, but not useful or intuitive enough in it's current state, and perhaps at the end of the day too awkward and confusing to retain. But that's just my opinion.

I don't think this works at all. It relies on outfits having sensible names - or names that at least link the various parts together. Everybody uses folders for their clothing folder as it would be impossible otherwise.

It also doesn't list prims in the clothing folder - so no prim skirts, shoes, hair..

I agree. I don't even own any clothes other than gifts and freebies, still, when I opened the clothing window I was assulted by a huge list of randomly named parts.

If this is the first step in altering how our assets are displayed to us, then fine. Otherwise it's just confusing.

I think the clothing was a last minute addition from what i saw in another post, might be a good time to post the features you'd like to see, maybe they will pick them up.

From what im gathering

Expand the assets shown in the clothing folder to include objects, ie prim dresses, tiny's etc

Also maintain a directory structure, for easier access to what you want by folder name.

So basically change it so our clothing folder is in a new window? IMO if there's to be a point to it this needs to go further.

If folders can be added, this menu could be re-purposed as a Quick-Pick list where you can drag-drop folders and items from your main inventory. This way, you have a mini-inventory of frequently used items you can get at quickly. Clothing, attachments, tools...

Who'd rather see this as a Quick-Pick window? :)

Big Thumbs Down

The clothing button is pretty dang useless as it is. There is no way possible (except, perhaps, to own less than 50 clothing items) to make it useful. No folders mean you can't sort things. No modify items mean you can't even rename them to somehow make it functional.

This is a big thumbs down for someone with a lot of clothing items - and for those that don't have a lot...well they aren’t really concerned enough about their clothes to care about a new so-called feature.

I'd like outfits to actually mean something. Folders are ok for a complete av, but it's useless if you have anything no-copy. I spend most of my time digging through my massive clothing folder to change stuff around.

Making outfits into an actual inventory item that works like a folder but doesn't have the restrictions of a folder would be great. The outfit would only be data about which clothing/shapes/attachments are used for that look so you dont have to make multiple copies of items or run around your inventory if something is no copy.

There's quite a lot of technical problems with implementing that but it would be a lot nicer.

hmm yes an item in inventory named like "Wardrobe" or "Preset Avatar" where when you edit it it gives you the options of chooseing clothing skin body hair and objects to be worn when used

Basicly its like dragging a folder on your avatar but you dont need multible copies of the items
