I figured I'd tryout the newest release client to see the changes made to SL, but I find that it crashes shortly after I run it, about a minute after I start it. Don't even have a chance to log in. Is there anyway to fix this? .-.

Hmm try a different PC perhaps to pproocve if it is your ISP? I had a lot of problems initially due to my ISP throttling my bandwidth, perhaps justr use the regular viewer, you can have all 3 versions of the viewer installed no problems, to many of us it is continually improving if anything, less crashing. Never had the "crash as you login" problim since last November, still running the same PC with a better graphics card and more memory, but only did that to improve performance really.

Well it's not logging in that crashes it, it's running the program in general, I could leave it on the login screen, and approximately a minute later it'd crash even if I didn't touch it. I tried to send in a report with both Windlight and the RC and both come up and say something along the lines of they couldn't connect to the servers to send the crash report .-.

Various thing to try:

1. Clear cache.
2. Turn computer, router, modem off.
3. Do a complete uninstall and delete your settings.xml file before reinstalling.
4. Update your drivers.
5. Open your box and see if the fans are clear of dust and spinning normally.
6. Take your video card out and put it back in. (reseat the video card)
7. Try the nicholas viewer.
8. Disable your anti-virus, anti-malware, etc. temporarily long enough to see if that helps.

I just ran into this this morning.

The sad thing is that SLs website is the only thing LESS reliable than the SL servers themselves. At least 50% of the time I was able to log in before the stupid splash screen ever even thought about coming up in the older clients because the web site is SO SLOW.

Well now we HAVE to wait because the damn login in boxes are on the website. :( :( :( And yes, it can be VERY slow at times and yes, if it is "unable to connect" SL will either spontaniously crash or crash when you close it, or even right when you start it if the website returns an error quickly (error 500 or something)

Yet another "improvement" for our convenience.

Yeah, I'm getting this with both the latest Windlight and the RC. Something's wrong with their new login screen. (Other than the fact that it's slow and seems completely unnecessary.)

Here's the JIRA entry if you want to vote for it: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-3885
