It's fairly simple, only thing is you need internet addesses first (address of the movie itself).

So let's go first to finding those. The best route here is just to find someone that has working media on their land and politely ask for any URL's they have, but if this fails or you want to watch something else there's another method.

http://www.apple.com/trailers/ has a great listing of a bunch of trailers. Yes I know, they're all playing inside a browser window. Stay with me here, follow this step by step & you can get some good trailers to watch through SL.
1) Get to the page that's showing the movie
2) Stop the movie
3) View source of the html page (right click the page and choose view source or go to the view menu and choose it from there).
4) In the geeky source code page you just opened, hit CTRL-F (find) and look for the word ".mov" (no quotes).
5) When it finds it, highlight the whole address that the letters ".mov" are attached too, starting from http:// or possibly rstp://
So you might grab something like:
http://images.apple.com/movies/disney/herbie_fully_loaded/herbie_fully_loaded_480.mov

***Make sure it starts with HTTP:// and ends in .mov, that's all you need to worry about.
6) Copy that address.

Now to get to SL

7) In SL, goto your land that the tv is sitting on and right click it & choose "About land"
8) Go to the media tab
9) In the lower of the 2 boxes, paste that link you grabbed from the geeky source code
10) Click the texture box above where you just pasted, a texture chooser appears
11) Find any texture you want to use, but be aware that as long as there's something pasted in that 2nd box you just pasted into, this texture will now show movies instead of what it was before, I say this so your house walls arent playing the movie (although that'd be kinda groovy hehe)
12) Make sure the TV screen on yoru free tv has that 'exact same texture' that you just picked.
13) Press play down at the bottom and enjoy your movie :)

Whew, long winded I know, but any streaming Quicktime movie you find on the web can now be used in your own home.

Cheers! :D

Ohhh, and once you're ready to watch the next movie, just find another movie URL and put it in that about land -> media box and hit play again. You wont need to fool with the textures once they're setup the first time :D
