Hi,
I just signed up for SL yesterday for the first time (yeah, noob here), and both clients crash on me right after I login. I've tried turning down various graphic detail and bump mapping, but nothing helps.
I'm using a Dell D600 (1.8GHz/1GB RAM, Windows XP SP2, all updates applied). Sometimes it will login, but before I can do anything in the edit menu it crashes out.
Is there an older client I can download? Any other ideas? I want to join the world of Second Life. Help!
Edit: My apologies if this is the wrong forum. I figured it might have something to do with the current version.

What kind of video? Is it the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 ? 32mb?

Welcome to SL. Hopefully our warrenties will expire on our D600s before SL grows beyond them (the Radeon 8500 is almost incapable of running it). ;P

I'm so glad I found this post--it gives me hope! I also have a laptop with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000, and SL is crashing on me as it begins to draw the world as well. Does anyone have a link to a driver that will work? I'm pretty sure I have the newest, but I'm willing to downgrade. Thanks! |
