Getting sudden periodic freezes now

It was working pretty well for a while, but now suddenly something went wrong.

Client periodically (every few seconds or so, but at irregular intervals) gets stuck for about a second. The "fast timers" debug console indicates that during a frame a huge amount of time is spent on Network/Decode msgs/Process msgs.

This started to happen all of a sudden and unfortunately I have no idea how to reproduce it. This is definitely not my computer, as everything else continues working perfectly fine.

Update: Examining lastrun.log shows entries like these starting to appear:
CODE

2006-09-14T21:48:46Z INFO: Dump: 2 messages processed in 3.2152 seconds
2006-09-14T21:48:46Z INFO: Num: 1 Bytes: 93 Invalid: 0 ChatFromSimulator 0%
2006-09-14T21:48:46Z INFO: Num: 1 Bytes: 205 Invalid: 0 ImprovedTerseObjectUpdate 0%
2006-09-14T21:48:51Z INFO: Dump: 2 messages processed in 3.22549 seconds
2006-09-14T21:48:51Z INFO: Num: 1 Bytes: 84 Invalid: 0 ChatFromSimulator 0%
2006-09-14T21:48:51Z INFO: Num: 1 Bytes: 439 Invalid: 0 ImprovedTerseObjectUpdate 0%

Interestingly, they start after the client has been running for a while, and the number of seconds progressively grows from 0.5 to 3 seconds.

I have a vaguely similiar issue. My client completely freezes for about 10-15 seconds on a vaguealy periodic basis - approximately 2 minutes, but the interval can be as short as 30 seconds or as long as 3 minutes.

I am running WinXPSP2 on a P4 3.6 Ghz, with 2GB RAM and a new Nvidia 7900 GS dual output graphics card. I run at 1920x1200 on my main monitor. For all other apps, and the rest of the time in SL it works beautifully, normally getting 20 FPS in SL with most graphics options switched on or at max detail. Switching them down to lower settings has no effect.

I can log into the same character from my inferior quality laptop, on the same network and very fast internet connection, without any issues so I'm pretty sure its not the connection or the character and inventory. This can occur in any sim. In any case my packet loss is normally 0% with only a very occasional blip to something else.

Error #1. If I start with the debug window up, the first message to appear after the freeze finishes is something like:

INFO: Dump: 401 messages processed in 0.015244 seconds.

Then there are a series of INFO: Num messages

and then a:

INFO: Maxed out number of messages per frame at 400.

Error #2. I was also getting similiar freezes that were followed by these messages:

INFO: Stopping GL during deactivation
INFO: Shutting down GL

But these seems to have stopped when I switched on the AGP option under Preferences

Error#3. After about two or so hours of this the SL client would crash.

If someone can tell me how to get more relevant information to assist in resolving these issues I'll happily do it.

Otherwise I don't have a lot of experience with playing around with my graphics cards so any thoughts on steps I could take to alleviate this issue would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks

Jenny

Thank you for the suggestion but unfortunately this doesn't seem to help :( I'd really like to know what is happening during that INFO: Dump action.

Might want to send a [email]support@secondlife.com[/email] e-mail and in that e-mail explain what is the problem with details.
I sure hope that works.... :(
