Scripts not working when not logged in.

I don't know where to ask this so I will start here. At least you may be able to point me in the right direction.

My vendors don't work. Sound demonstration displays are not working and such.

This is the strange part. If my avatar is logged on, everything work as it is supposed to. My renters, customers can operate the items just fine.

If I log off and return as my alt, nothing works. Customers cannot buy, group members cannot operate anything either. One of three vendors is ok, but the other two do not respond at all. I thought it was a vendor problem, but, I also have a sound demonstration board with a series of scripted buttons. Press one and it plays the sound.

The vendors are commercial scripts, the demonstration board I scripted. I am designated as the owner of all items and owner of the group. I donated my land to the group recently.

Works when I am logged on, but not when I am offline. My alt cannot even work the buttons.
What did I do?

Could this have something to do with group land permissions? Sales have been flat since the last update, now I know why. Anyone know what is going on.

Sounds pretty screwy to me. Are you sure that the scripts aren't using some kind of call which requires you to be logged in to work? (some of the newer parcel primitive calls require this, for example). Or, worse yet, some kind of formal detection of your online status to work?

Other than that, sounds like a question for Linden support (if you think you can get an answer out of them, anyway).

I have a voicemail support call in. Lotta good that will do.

I have been using these items for 4 or 5 months. Been working fine. I first thought it was only the vendors. Reset the scripts and such. Worked for me, problem solved. NOPE! Just works when I am logged on. I went to Hiro Pendragon, for support for the vendors, and he is baffled.

I then realized other things are acting up as well.

Thanks to the people who write the anti idle scripts. I can at least stay online while I am at work.

I have notice quite a few others that have a dramatic drop in sales. I wonder if it could be related?

Hmm no idea why if it was working it would suddenly go all nuts. If it has llKey2Name() in there checking names that only works if the AV is on-line and in the SIM.

Linden Labs fiddles with things on the backend that don't make the list of bugs. I had a vendor that suddenly quit accepting snapshots as textures a while back and had lots of complaints from users that my vendors were broken. I put a note on the vendors to only use uploaded textures and couldn't figure out what was wrong with the script. Couple of days later they were suddenly working again.

File your bug reports.. wait a few weeks.. They may suddenly start functioning properly again but you'll probably never hear from a Linden or see it on the bug fixes that there was ever a problem on their end.

Update

I have been logged the entire day and have been selling items. I manually checked the vendors and sound display, working fine.

I then logged out when I got home and returned as my alt.

Guess what! I could change the vendor with the button, (they are holo vendors) the descriptions and price come up, but no item is displayed.

I instantly got this email:

The object 'Second Life' has sent you a message from Second Life:
Can't create object 'Gothic Floor Clock Black Walnut - Deep Gong' because the parcel 'Avalon Square - Clocks by Yrrek Gran' at Jingyo 207.611, 186.57 does not allow it. Notifications from this region are temporarily deactivated.

That was when my alt tried to change the vendor. I do have object entry disabled along with create objects, but that should have no effect. They are my objects. I have plenty of prims available.

I can log on and the world is once again in peace. What a wonderful feeling. SL misses me! hehe!

I just have to sit in front of my shop 24/7, very boring, and people are buying just like the old days.

Can someone get me something to eat and a strong drink. On second thought, skip the food.

That is bizarre. Did you:
1. Check your group permissions to make sure it's set so group members can create objects on the land etc?
2. Even though the object entry/create objects boxes should not affect this, you could try enabling them (and set autoreturn on) and see if it has any effect. Maybe for some reason the vendor is thinking the person using the object is 'creating' the object in the vendor?

It's fun trying to work around things, isn't it?

EDIT: of course NONE of this explains why it all works fine when you're online - but it doesn't have to make sense does it?

Mystery Solved!

I think......

I was checking permissions once again, land, group, resident and such and decided to look more carefully at the problem objects themselves.

There is was. Each vendor that was problematic was owned by my old group, thus preventing it to operate on my group land. What I don't understand, is when I created the new group and made it active, everything that I have created, everything that I own etc. became group property except 3 items.

How did all of my stuff become group owned anyway?

Annabelle, you just about hit the nail on the head, but about an hour too late to get all of the credit. hehe

Thank you so much for being so smart.
