If you are unhappy with the new viewer... try downloading the new first look which includes Dazzle. The settings are much better and things look more like the prior SL. The Dazzle viewer updates the menus to a new look. http://secondlife.com/community/firstlook.php

Of all the client options, Dazzle has worked best for me. It even stayed up for two whole days once without crashing!!!
