Nice work with getting important textures loading fast but something is preventing certain terrain textures from loading properly, they seem stuck in the low-res mode.

Screenshot shows texture far from avatar (left) fully loaded while textures near avatar (middle to right) still in low-res.

Same issue here

We dragged Jack Linden out for it, even.

The base texture ( #1) is fine

2, 3, and 4 are a blurry blob

too much terrain loading

i have the exact opposite problem...i have a "beach" that seems to render differently each time i log in with grassy patches that werent there before and change spots. It should be all sand texture. Seriously thinking of getting the place doused with grass killing pesticides =/

hm. It really amazes me how much they end up changing lately without documenting it... There were obviosuly a LOT of under the hood changes in 1.10.2 that didn't show up in the release notes :\

This is a known issue for on some GeForce 6xxx and 7xxx cards when Avatar Rendering is set to Bump Mapped & Cloth. If you change Avatar Rendering back to Bump Mapped or Normal the terrain textures will look correct.

Thank you, Dan!

I'd not seen this until this update, so I had no clue! I have the GeForce 6600. I will try changing that.

@Dan

It is connected with bump map / cloth setting, however ...

I never had this problem before, it's *only* with the 1.10.2.2 update that it happened.

EDIT:
Statement retracted in favor of controlled observations two posts down.

Aodhan, curious question for you: when you take snapshots of this terrain, do the snapshots look blurrier/sharper than the actual terrain does inworld? I've been having a weird problem I've been trying to chase down.

They would be blurry (actually more pixelated) with the normal screenshot setting as everything else would be. Will check with the hi-res setting.

EDIT:

Retracting statement in previous post.

All textures are affected but to differing degrees.
At bumpmap setting: all textures clear
At bumpmap/cloth settig: all textures blurry but some only moderately and others blurred into a single mass of color.

Various detailed observations:
1. When I am on bump/cloth mode then relog textures near the avatar invariably get very blurred even when they were not blurred before I logged out. The blur pattern changes.

2. You might find this sequence interesting

a. Setting bump only
Terrain is clearly detailed

b. Without logging out setting changed to bump/cloth
Terrain gets blurred

c. Relog with bump/cloth setting
Terrain textures get shuffled? Note particularly the large color change in the 7:30 o'clock area.

Yes, I never ever saw this until 1.10.2.2 as well.

However, dropping "Bump Map & Cloth" for just "Bump Map" did fix this for me.

... which I EXPECT to fix these issues, I agree with Jennifer and Aodhan. These terrain issues never occurred until 1.10.2.2.
