I tp'd and now the beacon on the map won't clear when I hit clear. Guess I'll have to relog.

I noticed this too. Entering a space character over the region name cleared it though (work around).

Yup. find something on the map, go to clear its marker and close the window and mostly it selects something else at a random location.

clearing the location information seems to work but ya have to do that every time.

I had the same problem when I was on last nite. I would tp, clear the map and the beacon/arrow would still be there. I cleared the region tab and everything was cleared, however 20 minutes later there was a beacon showing me the place I was at 3 tp's before. Weirdness.

What it seems to do is not clear if you've typed in a region or clicked on a location then hit the clear button. Just clearing the region field doesn't help for me, but typeing just a single character (such as a space) or teleporting to the location does clear it.

Map a friend

To get out of the map not clearing issue I was mapping a friend then it would clear.

To all my friends I will not TP to you unless You/I ask first. LOL

The fix for this is to:

after arriving at your location with the 'Marker' having your map open, where the Region name is type in the word 'Region' (without quotes) and hit return, then close your map and it should clear.

LL is aware of the situation as well and looking into it i'm sure

You don't have to necessarily type anything into the region field. If you are hands off the keyboard it is enough to click into the landmark field and close the map. The location will be cleared by this.
A click into the friends field instead doesnt clear the mark, you still need to click on clear to really clear the marked location.
What I am missing in general is a hotkey to clear the landmark so that I dont have to open the map in case I want to get rid of the marked position quickly.

Leff.

Because its a BUG (Hell, I don't like to have to relog to resolve an issue but sometimes thats Life, Second Life).
Until LL Comes out with a known fix in 1.0.1.2 or whatever version it may be compatible with, we'll have to make due until then. The 'Map Marker' has always been touchy in my experience since 2004, so it's no suprise/no disappointment.

Atleast Shiny and Ripple still work.
