I've been seeing some issues recently with new scripts I write that use llOwnerSay. Did one just now: default { state_entry() { llOwnerSay(llGetKey()); } }
And I got nothing from the object. Currently waiting (10 minutes) for it to recompile with an added llSay() so I can bug report it if nessessary. Also had an llOwnerSay the other day when I was testing to see if the pay dialog still worked when it wasn't returning the object and owner name (getting " nobody)" or " ???) (???)" when my ping was over about 1060), which it does EDIT: got the script to save with the llSay() version and both triggered. Complaint to Live Help about it taking forever generated the following responce: "SL servers are very busy at the moment" It would seem to me that these words in this usage are unacceptable. 30,000 people online (3 people including myself in this sim) and now we have to wait 10 to 15 minutes for our scripts to SAVE, much less run. If it doesn't say "save successful" it did not save. Can't script (might as well start learning SLOBOL--it might compile faster), building nearing impossibility.... Only 3 people in this sim and I can't save scripts of fetch inventory for this one object. P.I.T.A.

I've been getting horrendous packet loss since this last update, I can barely SEND scripts to be saved let alone save them. Packet loss averaging between 10% and 50%, and that's the average, it goes higher I know it doesn't add much to your thread, but I can't even test your issue, I normally would

My packet loss--at least what's being reported--doesn't get that high when I'm watching it. I see as high as 5%, but I think it must be dropping a 0.

I've been getting awful packet loss since the last update also.
If I had had SL go like I would have liked to have it go, things that worked when I first began would still be working. Things would be added to it without breaking the things that once worked.
This constant instability really wears on a person after a while, especially if you are trying to build things, or actually, do anything you once did. You should be able to do the things that you once could.

You should be able to do the things that you once could. Indeed. Which may account for my constant apathy and constant camping with several alts and increased desire to not do otherwise. I'm about 12 hours of free time away from hacking the open source client to be able to respond to various anti-idle camping chair techniques, such as saying a random word or phrase.

When it gets too busy I log out of SL and log into FL.
You can make a lot more money doing that than you can camping, by the way.

I can do it anywhere 24 horus a day, 7 days a week. My FL is currently occupied by schooling and looking for a coop job, so I'm headed towards FL $, it just hasn't happened yet. Know anyplace that wants a 6 month intern for web or flash development? Preferably in or near Philadelphia.

Would be interesting to see if camping gets to the point where sims can't be entered by people looking to shop, because of the camping chair sitters and the camping protesters have filled the sims up. Draco- I think your llOwnerSay() problem may be a symptom of asset server lag... if it can't look up the owner of the prim in time to send the message because the asset server is too bogged down then it may just fail.. or be notifying NULL_KEY instead of you.

That's what I'm starting to think. Lag of all kinds is gettng to the point at which it'll "solve" itself by people simply leaving. From: someone Would be interesting to see if camping gets to the point where sims can't be entered by people looking to shop, because of the camping chair sitters and the camping protesters have filled the sims up. Which is why I look for stable camping places, any more than about 6 or 8 chairs and the sim goes to hell. Not suitable for long term camping: the sim is more likely to go down before you get back to check on it. Which, interestingly enough are also the same places that don't run out of money and die, forcing their campers to look for a new spot.

I didn't know you could say a KEY without type casting. Learn something new everyday. or is this part of the problem?

That's already happened, where there's competing camping pits in the same sim.
