What is a "Cone of Context" and what will it do for my texture picker?

All I know is that the texture picker now arranged alphabetically rather than by date. It's quite the annoyance.

yes, if by date only wasn't good enough, then I guess selectable sort order would be fine, or at least in the same order as I have my inventory sorted.

Why did this need changing? I don't remember hearing any complaints about how it was sorted before... We could already find things by name by typing in the search bar, so having it sorted by date was logical because it let us find the newest version of two things with the same name, or easily use the texture we just uploaded.

I'm trying not to rant, but this is the sort of random change that irritates people (namely me :) ). No warning, no really compelling reason, and time wasted by all. Stop doing that!
