Keyboard Shortcut for Image Uploads -or- Oh No! Goodbye Ctrl+O

Forgive me if someone already posted about this, I didn't find anything though.

I noticed in the 1.6 preview that the keyboard shortcut for image uploads has been removed. I was told that it was intentionally disabled because people hit it on accident. I am sure many of us hit it on purpose though. I LOVE keyboard shortcuts and find them to be a valuable and time saving tool and I don't think this one should be removed.

In the spirit of compromise, I think we could find an acceptable replacement.

Instead of Ctrl+O, how about Ctrl+Shift+O? That should be obscure enough to solve the accident problem, but similar enough to the current method to be easily replaced.

Any thoughts?

Honistly I dont know how you could accadently hit ctrl o, Maby if your using debug and are trying to hit ctrl zero ?

If any KB shortcut should be removed it should be ctrl q...

I agree Starley, I use keyboard shortcuts all the time. I guess I am wondering what harm is caused by accidentally hitting control-O in the first place. The upload image file dialog box opens up, but can easily be canceled out of. While I would prefer a new alternate shortcut over none at all, I would really prefer it stay as it is now.

Is there a shortcut to take a Snapshot To Disk with the chat bar open yet?

I haven't tried extensively in Preview 1.6 but in 1.5.14 it's the "`" key, which of course just makes:

Every time I want to spontaneously take a picture, I have to hit Esc and then `, making the process a little more cumbersome. Thanxies.

I and O are next to each other on the keyboard, so sometimes when i mean to press CTRL + I (to open my inventory), I press CTRL + O which opens up the upload window.

Why this is a problem (albeit a small one)?
Because the Upload window takes 3-5 seconds to load!!! which is very annoying.

Here's an idea, a keybinding menu .

I've accidently hit it a few times, I forget how or when, probably for the same reason Rysidian says, I mean to go for Ctrl+I and hit O. Who knows. I've never found it to be so annoying to curse it or anything though, sure its slightly annoying, but no big deal to me, not as bad as when I used to accidently click Snapshot button and have to pay 10L$.

Keybinding window would be neat, so we could set our own keys up. Also Ctrl+Shift+O would be fine with me too.

Actualy bringing back Ctrl+O would be fine to (to me atleast). Heheh.

i'm so glad about this. i always hit control-o with my fingernail when i'm linking and unlinking things (control-L or shift-control-L). i do that alot and even tho i upload alot it's not worth a short cut key to me. i just flick my wrist to file > bulk upload and there's my uploading done for the week.

Excellent suggestion up there. I'm in full agreement; custom keybindings would be the absolute best solution. Could a Linden possibly weigh in on whether or not that's a possibility?

I was so happy to see this go. I have a bad habbit of typing in the dark. To complicate this i have a friend who loves primtastic hair, and when ever we hang out I have to reduce the object detail or suffer. Hence me using ctrl+p. On the other side of the issue I don't use the the button bar at the bottom of the screen (turned the thing off, wasted screen space). So to get to my inventory i use the hotkey ctrl+i. And whats between them? ctrl+o

Now i never use the hotkey to upload images, I rarely upload any anyway. But what irks me about it is that it takes so long to load (so sue me, i tricked out explorer with lots of extentions that make it useful).

Personally I dont understand why the lindens have not yet exposed all of the features to user defined keyboard shortcuts. There are enough things in sl that could be done via keyboard shortcuts and there is little reason why NOT to expose it.
