Since I never get any confirmation on the 50 + crash reports I've sent in since the last viewer upgrade, I'm kinda wondering if they are being received.
Just curious.

they are received. they just produce little response about it. But there'll be new versions early if there're lots of crash reports to them, i believe.

I think they could run for a crash report competition with Microsoft. I think the crash reports works as statistics, like - Hey this bug caused a lot more harassment than the other bugs, lets fix this first if its an easy fix...

Seems LL only responds to preview bug reports--well, at least Milo Linden has replied to about 5 or 6 of mine so far. Would be nice to have the bug database open to the public so we can check it for known issues and add new/more info/details...at least for preview testers!

I think it's called the "known issue" forum/board/thread (which I've read the most recent list of twice). And they don't fix the easy ones first. * Closing IM tab switches focus to the right, not the left To me, that sounds like adding like a single character to the code, or maybe a line. *Ponders* Maybe they use a dynamically linked list, in which case, it's a few lines of code--assuming the elements of the list aren't currently linked in both directions, otherwise it's one line. They don't even do the "merely tedious" ones. * Sim names are only allowed to be 35 characters, verify that this appears properly everywhere No, they fix major problems first (stuff that crashes things), followed by scripting errors (anyone read the changes implemented by 1.9.0(21)? I think that's the one...the major fix was reimplementing the old funtionality of llXorBase64Strings). After that they might to things people complain about most often. Or not: * Avatars with complex attachments (e.g. furries) rubber band on region crossing. |

Non-Lindens can't post/reply there, however. Yeah, that is a problem. Of course, any forum that did allow us to post would get flooded. |

We need more wiki! Valve did an excellent job with their bugreport system for their Beta 'friends' system. http://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Friends_Beta/Bug_reports
Valve, however, actually read it and kept a little moderation over it, which might be asking too much of LL, but overal the community used it with quite a bit of responsibility. People confirmed other reported bugs, some found workarounds, etc. I don't see how this could hurt SL's bugreport process, really. |

Ok, I just read the latest known bug list, and no where on there is listed "Viewer freezes upon closing of edit window".
This requires that I close the game by clicking the top right X, and then the "close now" button on the "this program is not responding" dialog box. On restarting SL, Im prompted that SL seems to have crashed, do I wish to send a report? which I do, hence the multitudes of crash reports, and the start of this topic. Next question?: is this happening to anyone else, or am I the odd duck? |

Do you mean the object editor window? If so, it doesn't happen to me. Nor does the avatar attachments not appearing--my smurf av looks fine on login.
