I hope this is some sort of technical mistake. I logged in and ended up on LeCadre. Either all private sims that are visable should be included on the preview grid or none should be included.

Probably because they need to test them, it being a test, and also them testing the estate tools, i also encountered a map bug that i only found on private islands, but i would of liked more islands but they dont actually have the physical machines to bring up that many sims, but its important to test some, and some sims have been tested in rotation, ie bought up for a while and taken down.

So why not bring up Linden private sims and not sims owned by residents? They obviously have the ability to not use resident owned sims if they want to, but they are choosing to do so.

My guess would be because residents do things that the Lindens would never dream of, and some private sims are heavy on the lag and tricky programming techniques.

Do you think that someone has an unfair advantage if thier sim is brought up on the preview grid, and how so?

Well thats saved me answering for the most part, except there are also linden islands up as they need testing too, but private resident islands are a different sim configuration (being estates), also these islands may have had a problem in the past which corresponded to a bug fix.

The only reason you were taken their was that the sim you was in was down and that was the closest telehub to your last location at the database capture time.

If its about where you spend your money or what happens to it then, money is pretty much worthless and is there for testing only, nothing bought or aquired can be transfered back to the main grid, this includes land or money, and money cannot be sold via various exchanges.

Private Sims

We have a number of tests that require a private sim, for example the estate tools test. In order to meet the requirements of those tests, we randomly bring up a private sim. (Linden Private sims, as I just re-discovered today while testing, are notoriously oddly-configured) It isn't possible for us to bring up every private sim though, the preview grid has nowhere near enough cpu's for us to do that.

Furthermore, every once in a while we have a bug reported at a specific location on the main grid that can only be reproduced at that specific location. In order to test fixes for those bugs we will bring up sims to accommodate that testing. If that location is a private sim, then we need to bring up that sim.

Finally, if you wish to have your private sim brought up. Message me in world on preview, and if I can accommodate you at that time I will, however I reserve the right to refuse your request.

My sim which was shockingly fast and speedy, has slowed to a crawl and started crashing daily in the past few weeks. Originally I thought it to be an issue on the sim, but in spending some time on the mainland and other sims, the issues is world wide and not just on my sim. I have made some modifications to the Sim and it would be nice to test them in preview. Prior to last night I had never seen a private Sim available on the Preview grid.

Gotcha.... pretty rockin that Chris offered to bring up private sims if time prevails. What a great way to see what your sim will handle like on 1.7.
