Sorry - I didn't see this thread before posting my own above.

Yes, I too experienced nothing but crashing with 1_17_2, so in the end I restored 1_17_0_12 (was there never a 1_17_1?) and have not had any crashes since then - that was yesterday.

One or more of the 'fixes' must be causing this as I didn't change any parameters or preferences between one version and the other. The version previous to this latest "optional" one seems remarkably stable even if it does contain a few bugs.

There was a 1.17.1 but that's the one which tended to crash whenever you'd pick "Edit" on prims, so 1.17.0 would be the most stable one to revert back to.

not only crashes, but can't tp

ok, I'll continue bitching here, too. Crashes are bad enough, but not being able to go anywhere totally sucks - what's the point of a VR 3D Sim???? I need to get to other sims in the world, not revisit where I live.

And apparently these issues aren't worth blogging in the support area. Really useful, lindens.

How do you revert to a previous version?

I waited a couple day before updating to the new version and since I did today i have noticed considerable lagg. I would like to go back to the other version until they release the 1.18

Just uninstall the one you currently have installed, and then install the older version.

This has happened to me also. There still seems to be a memory leak in this client. Fact is the client before this one too had a serious memory leak. If you revert back to the older client you might get worse results. If i were you i would lower all the setting as low as you can deal with. Until LLABS finally deals with the seriousness of this matter. Returing to the older client might have even cause worse results. ALL over SL in the past 24 hours Pocketloss has been high and other unstablity issues. Wait until the Grid monkeys and coders finish the next update. It can`t get any worse then what is occuring all over sl right now.

I have tried uninstalling SL completely and yet I still see some files in my program file folder and when I try to delete those...it says it is being used by another program...wtf? the file in question is called: static_index.db2
Why can't I get rid of SL completely from my pc? I have had the crash issues usually when I teleport to another place. something is seriously wrong here.
