Is there a way to tell if the video is buffering or loading? A few times I've been sitting waiting for the video to play and nothing's happening.

Did you try to turn on any of SL's in-game monitors?

--Jack Lambert yeah sure, but sometimes it just stops in middle as if it's buffering, but it doesn't go again. In the real quicktime program you have a progress bar to let you see what's happening.

I get the feeling that the current implementation of video is a quick cludge to get a new feature in: 1. The client hangs for 10-15 seconds when you try to start a video (hey no that's immersive!), 2. If somebody turns a stream on, all on the parcel have it streamed to them (but what if I don't want to watch it?), 3. You have no indication of whether a stream is working or not (I had the same as you, click on videos, wait for the hang to release, erm...nothing.) 4. You can't change the stream programatically like you can with audio (it's in the pipeline apparently) It's currently a far from perfect implementation and doesn't even appear to have the basic courtesy option of number 2 available.

I've found a way of knowing if its going to work or not, when I click the play button, if its working, my client freezes for a few seconds.

No, I can tell you that's not right either as I had mine freeze a couple of times and I thought it was working but then waited around and nothing. If it doesn't freeze at all then it's definitely not working, if it freezes first then I presume it's a buffering problem maybe. Wow, it's just so intuitive isn't it

A progression bar or buffering of some sort would be great, right now we don't know WTF is going on with the video stream.
