
Why don't they take care of the real issues first... the issues of griefers, the issue of the constantly having to take SL down for one reason or another...the issue of lag, and start listening to the people who have a stake in SL, and not just someone who is randomly visiting SL for kicks? In my case, the money I spend in SL, both as a resident, a buyer, as well as a seller who runs business in SL, a land owner who pays tier fees every month, this last month alone with all the shutdowns, time that system has been down for one reason or another, has made it a very unhappy time not only for me on a personal enjoyment level, but also in sales during the many hours Lindens have to do shutdown, rollbacks, turn off system to logins, and everything else happening of late!
We can't even work on creative things any more, because we find the system either crashes, or has to be shut down due to grid attacks, and then having to be backed up when Lindens can't figure out what is wrong. Its like we have to be constantly saving our work, and making sure we put it into inventory, which at times, the Inventory is still having its own share of problems... it takes away a creative flow, if every 5 mins you have to save your work, take a copy, and then restart the creative processes...in fear of the system crashing, being logged out without notice by Lindens...which has happened to me on more than one occasion of late... I'm at the point I don't want to work on anything until I can see that the system is more stable. Even events twice I have had to not have due to the grid being down...Im sure Im not the only person who is affected by all this so-called 'improvements to stability and the grid".
Don't get me wrong, I am all for upgrades, and adding new features, but not just add insult to injury by having these constant upgrades when they haven't solved the previous one satisfactorily enough before updating yet again, and adding more problems to solve. Give the people of SL a break, and stop trying to add things to the new versions, and paying attention to FIXING THE ONES THAT ARE ISSUES TO ALL OF US NOW! It just seems that for everything Linden Labs is trying to accomplish with SL and they have done alot, all they are doing of late is make people upset, and causing them to sign off permanently... I know of quite a few people who were steadfast users who no longer will come to SL, and I too, am getting very discouraged with Lindens these days, in their customer service, in their answering bug reports, and fixing issues of abuse with SL users.
SL is just becoming a lot less fun, and a lot more hassle now than anything else! You had a great thing going Lindens, but you don't care about your residents enough to listen to what they feel, and what they want... Thats how it seems to me...Lindens are becoming too corporate instead of being the very forward thinking people who created a wonderful virtual space ahead of its time here, and letting the power go to your heads. Or is it the fact that everything that starts out small and leading edge becomes amassed in the corporate and financial issues, and the residents who have made SL what it is since the beginning, a thriving, economic and community virtual world really don't matter any longer. Promises are cheap... Show us that you really care about us, and start taking our recommendations into consideration, because without your SL Society, there is no SL.
I may end up banned for this post, but as far as Im concerned, the forums, blogs, should be free for people who have an interest in SL to voice their feelings and concerns. After all, we don't really know that Lindens are even paying attention to most of our comments, or just listening to their corporate partners, and a very small percentage of bigwigs in SL to make their decisions.
