I hate the way avatars rez now. Those stupid clouds are hard to find. You see someone on the minimap and you pan all around and you just can't find them. And once you do find them they're hard to right-click. And why do they take so damned long to rez?
Just draw a grey body, please!

You can get the old Ruth back if you miss her. Under Advanced->Debug Settings, set RenderUnloadedAvatar to TRUE.

I've heard about the powder puff balls instead of ruths, but never seen one, guess my connection downloads them quicker? I have 'seen' no avatars, maybe a pair of shoes or a name tag, but once they go into editing appearances, they pop in.

Yeah, there are many opportunities for Ruthing, it's amazing we ever appear as anything else. It can be messages that didn't make it from that avatar's viewer (bots tend to skip this step), or it can be a sim that has connections stuffed up so it can't deliver the appearance info to everyone else, or it can be anything from your own viewer to the tubes between there and SL.
