I do my thing in Valkyrie, and the last 2 days, I've been thrown out at least 6-7 times per day (European day time) because of SIM restarts.
I can't find any notes about it anywhere, and I don't even know if I should report it to someone. I figure if the restarts are planned, some kind of notice would be posted somewhere since it's so many restarts each day..
Maybe it's just me...

It sounds like your sim is having issues, the Lindens haven't been doing any rolling restarts across the grid as far as I've seen. Have you asked others in the sim if they are also experiencing the restarts? Sometimes Your internet connection can cause you to lose contact with the Sim, and it *seems* like the sim went down. Best to check first. If other residents are having restarts as well, I'd contact the Lindens.

Yes, others gets that message too. All of a sudden we hear a "pling", the screen goes grayscale and a message pops up telling us that the simulator is going down for restart.

well my sim had the same issue yesterday and today with a result of A FULL WEEK of WORK gone to dust. how so? well the first one yesterday made the complete bundele of script of an object i was building to be wiped out. i had to rewrite 5 scripts fully. the second one made my next project disapeared completly from SL it seems. a 103 prims detailed object i had just finished built after 48 hours of work. (very very fun i think) every time i had the land connection thing and more i was sent on another sim when relogging saying the sim was down. to add to the list when i came back home after the last one i saw that an item i had dropped had disapeared. (i had it selected when i crashed) but the prims of this item were still counted in my land prim allocation under selected/sat upon prim. making now my land nearly filled because of an item that is not existing anymore

Well in light of how rubbish performance is at the moment, I'd welcome a sim restart.

I've had this happen several times, in my case nothing was broken/lost so I'll be thankful, but it has happened several times. I noticed also a wave of restarts occurring in the Furnation simulators and no-one knew why.

I believe in incremental building and scripting. At least once per hour I rename the object I am working on to the next version (could be from 0.123 to 0.124) and take it. Then I rez it back again. Slightly more complex where I am building a big house using Builder's Buddy, but I would recycle all the bits over a 12 hour period. I also keep copies of all my scripts in a set of folders, again by version number, on my hard disk. Been bitten too many times. Just need to organize yourself!

I'd like to mention a weird bug about sim restarts and something I've done a month ago. By then, SL was having heavy llGiveInventoryList bugs (various ones, from not delivering at all to delivering several times). As a business owner, I needed my products to be upgraded and I provide free upgrades.
Technical details aside, the main procedure for the user is to go to my shop, and click on the upgrade server to get a brand new folder (and older items are destroyed). Guess what, it's relying heavily on llGiveInventoryList because each item is different and my items are rather popular.
Every single time a user did that during a week the simulator (Pak) crashed and rebooted. No prior warning, just a message saying the sim is restarting and everyone, including those who actually live there, is ejected. As Pak is a mainland sim, nobody to complain to. When I realized the issue I quickly removed my server and put a "Where is the updater ?" prim to explain the problem and to ask for patience.
Now it seems to be back to normal but I'm careful with that now. And I'm not a griefer, I don't crash sims for fun, especially the one I have my main shop in. I find it rather freaky that a single script (actually, 7 scripts) can crash a whole sim, especially scripts that use a function as harmless as llGiveInventoryList.
Not to mention that I've been screwed several times by bugs such as a user gets several times the same item (which is no-copy and trans) when upgrading one. My upgrade server is bug-free, coded by myself only, it's been used for 6 months without interruption in 2 different sims without a single bump. And suddenly, that.

I requested a restart of the Valkyrien simulator, one hour later it was restarted and everything is back to normal. I also got all my things back into my lost and found folder.
