I think I found a griefer who can crash my viewer. Many people are crashing repeatedly in Ahern tonight, and the constant has been one resident who
1) is usually flooding chat when I sign back in, and I crash right away again 2) bragging that he is not crashing 3) saying he is attaching 40,000 prims
Another resident with me on his friends list got a screen cap of chat (no text copy since he's on linux) showing a close relationship between the chat floods and my going on- and offline, but there isn't always a connection. My theory is that when he's in the mood he does his viewer crashing trick and then floods chat.
I've AR'd him and sent at least a dozen closely-spaced crash reports, so Lindens have that info. I can provide those screen caps if desired.
I *HOPE* Lindens notice all the crash reports coming from one person as something odd.

It's a really special night in Ahern. A few penuses, of course, but also some racism, some raining meat, some text chat unfit to reproduce here, landmark spam, notecard spam, and of course, constant crashing. If this is the first taste new residents get it's no wonder retention is so low. Please, LL, if you can't visit the welcome centers every once in a great while, empower some trusted residents to do something about this.

Yes, it's crazy the fact you would never see a Linden or official greeter in a new citizen welcome area. There should be one or 2 online patroling & greeting at all the spawning points 24/7 They either can't afford the money for PR or none of them are game to put their head in a cage of tigers (cough) I mean citizens...................

The WA (particularly Ahern) is a very unique experience for sure. There are some very helpful and knowledgeable regulars that are absolutely key to some new players' experiences and then are the less helpful regulars who also contribute their own special variety of...ummmm, stuff. I think both kinds are what keep SL interesting for me personally. You never know what you're going to see or hear in SL and nowhere is that more clear than in the WA. As for crashing a viewer - there are absolutely people that can crash you on a system that is less than stable already. 'Course, those folks can also crash whole sims very, very easily. Oh and as for Lindens in the WAs...they are there. Though how you would expect a 120 (or thereabouts) person company to staff WAs 24x7 is completely beyond me

Why do I have this feeling that I know who it is?

From: Miyako Nishi saying he is attaching 40,000 prims Heh. He is exaggerating. That number is not possible.

I have seen them there occasionally in the past... Admittedly not for a long time, but then I avoid all WA like the plague now

From: FireFox Bancroft Right I think the maximum is 256 per attachment point, correct me if I'm wrong. I cannot remember if it is 255 or 256, but you are correct. And with only 30 available attachment points, that is a maximum of 7,680 prims. Interestingly, I went to the WA at Ahern to see this griefer (I didn't notice the date on the OP), and crashed within a minute. I logged back in to see 5 other people also relogging, and a few people were talking about how they constantly crash when they are in this Welcome Area. Whether that is griefers or a poorly written client I cannot begin to guess, but I set my status to Busy and did not crash again while I was there. Couldn't say whether that was significant or not, and don't feel like performing more exhaustive testing since the only place less desirable in SL than a WA is a public Sandbox and I just wanted to eject the whole time.

In a recent machima we carried out, we were dropped a 'weapon' to include in the shot... when I checked the 'object' it reported it was made from 770 prims.... is that a record?

I would not have thought that possible, I guess I will have to double-check now. [Edit] According to the LSL Wiki entry on linksets, 256 prims is the maximum. I would be very interested in seeing how that is done, and I am sure Linden Labs would be as well.
