New Client is Great !

I love the new client, it really has put me back in touch with my family...yay. Now instead of logging in and playing for hours on end, I get to watch the Crash log thing...and yes it is much faster than the old one. Good thing to since I spend most of my night watching it! Is this a feature or a benefit?

My ISP performance in almost every sim is much slower and it takes me 30 or more to rez anything, where as before I only had this problem in one or two sims, now I get to have this BIG fun in very sim... another great improvement!

Ok, now here is the best part of the latest downgrade to the game. You know how annoying all those group chats are? You know all the groups you join and then have to quit them because of all the nonsense chat? Well now I get a error every time a group chat window opens, but here is the best part...I get a error for every line that SL saves in its bottomless pit buffer. Yes, out of the blue I slammed with 30 or 40 lines of chat and each line has a really cool error message attached to it. So I get to click "OK" for every damn line and then the chat window closes because all the chat that just flooded my screen isn''t really there, because it was a error right? I get errors if I even make a group active. I guess its giving me the error JUST IN CASE I might want to use the chat!

Also, its really cool now I can't even post a tech support ticket becasue the support portal doesn't work. Isn't is something how the people that are supposed to help us make this pile of crap work can't even get their own web site to work? When you log in, the latest entry is " <resolved> support portal not working!!! Resolved how? Try to log into the support section and post a ticket...good luck!

Haha. This post is funny, but it does point out a very big problem: SL is becoming Crash City. And I see it using up a LOT more RAM than before, and won't even release any File Handles till it is forcibly removed from the Running Tasks list.

I hope someone there can actually see your post and realize what a crash-fest this game has become lately. Getting in touch with the Family is one thing. But losing your SL Family because of poor Client performance is another. :(

Clearly the view of things working right rather then being pretty hasn't gotten to LL as they continue to make new looks for the client and yet it has bugs, like the group chat error. Theres no way that simply got over looked. I mean you know all teh Lindens were on teh grid testing it out IMing the other Lindens...

Linden #1: "OMGz this client is the l33t!"
Linden #2: "It rockz my sockz!"

--Purely sarcasm as I would hope you all see, but honestly, how long are the glitches going to go on?

I dunno what good this post will do ... but since the new client, i cant even connect to the server to attempt to log in..all i get is the offline SL splash screen. and the "unable to connect and the infamous "something unexpected has gone wrong" etc etc...crash logger wont connect to the server to send a log like many other reports. This issue has been the same with the last 3 vs of Windlight and Dazzle as well. D'ld the newest Vid drivers and get the "out of date or unsupported drivers error.. making sure the extensions are OFF in the vid card settings as others have suggested doesn't help this error either.

So, for s&g' I put in an OLD Geforce Ti4200 128mb card and can connect with the new client as normal?? but reverting back to a new 512mb Geforce 7600 gets the error.. but THEN works fine with 18.5..lol??? ... I guess we gotta down grade our hardware (5 year old card) with crappy 128 vid memory to run the new Vs. or run an older Vs of SL.

2 other comps here wont run the new client either... only to crash upon launching the program, then no connection to the crash logger..uhhg! But they ALL run fine with SL vs 18.5...............

**sighs** I feel the pain of MANY others with this new client...

The really sad part about this is the same issue I had when I played Eve Online. Massive amounts of time invested, huge amount of real money issues. Then one day they introduced a new client that would run Unix OS, you know for all the Unix users out there. I'm sure the % compared to windows is HUGE. Anyway shortly after they released this client, allot of windows users couldn't play anymore, runt time errors was the most prevalent problem. That was 7 months ago and when I visit that forum, people are still having issues and can't play and the owner of the game CCP could care less. WHY? Well think if it in terms of the subscribers....I have 1 million customers and 50,000 cant play or they play and crash but they still play...ho hum, who cares?

When I first started playing in October of 2007, the game was fun and playable on my 2.6 Ghz dual core machine, which by the way the Linden hardware logger sees at a 1 ghz machine, so what good is the crash log???????? I had to send them a DXdiag file to prove to them what kind of hardware I have. I'm sure the LL family would read the forums thats assuming they even log in. lol.

They just told me the reason why I am getting gorup chat errors is because my video drivers are not the latest. Um, I didn't think I didn't know a video driver causes the chat server to send a error? Um I thought grpahics cards did....well, graphics! Another common cure I have been told by LL tech support is to clear the cookies in my browser. Now I can see how that can affect their chat server. Heck, would want to work with all those cookies laying around and a gallon of ice cold milk in the fridge?

The only really nice thing about all this, is ITS FREE :) Yes, I downgraded my premium account. Anyone that would pay for this things in its present condition has got to be making so much real money in game not to care. from the usual 'no response: from the owners of the BIG stores I assume they make so much money they never have to log in.

For Lindens RESOLVED means its still fucked up and we dont know why. Period.

why do you waist time logging crashes? they dont look at them unless too many ppl are logging the same thing

I think that some internal pressures pushed 1.19.0 out of release candidate status too early.

1.19.0 had a number of new features which had been slated for inclusion in 1.18.6 which never went beyond a release candidate due to the aborted logon screen changes (e.g. the age verifcation settings for parcels and estates)

So the gap in functionality between 1.18.5 and 1.19.0 was a little larger than normal. Also 1.19.0 had be in release candidate status for about a month longer than planned, and I suspect was aso beginning to put a gap between client and server release with the servers moving up to 1.19.0 and 1.19.1 (due to hetgrid this isn't as big an issue as before but meant there was a growing amount of stuff in the server not yet usable by the normal client).

As such, i suspect there was a lot of "we need to get 1.19.0 out" talk within LL, but also a number of unfixed bugs such as error messages on receiving chat, friends list never leaving (waiting), frequency of crashes on startup seeming higher etc.

It looks like the need to get 1.19.0 out outweighed the need to fix the bugs!

You get a crash logger that works? Wow mine has not worked for 3 weeks now. It gives me errors..............can`t transmit data to LLABS servers..............Now thats what i call real great way to fix bugs.......You don`t get the report you don`t have and bugs to fix :rolleyes:

Your joking right? they saying this? shakeshead If that what support is telling you then we are al in deep monkey poo. I getting Im chat errors and MY drivers are updated.......Who told you this????????????????

You mean they don`t transmit data back to LLABS.....Mine hasnt worked for a very very long time.
