So how many of us are going to be quitting SL soon before the new version? lmao
I've been reading the boards where others are discussing the technical terms for WHY SL has become sooo annoyingly unbearable but i am still in the dark as to why new versions are put out but don't fix the problems.
If lindens don't read and pass along the info we send, what's the point of playing. All we are doing is perpetuating the cycle that it's okay to be sub-par when people are dedicating time and money to thoroughly enjoy a game.
I say a SL wide strike is in order...but i would need to gain an army.
A cookie for every "soldier"? hehe

I'm running my little business now as scripter and designer....if I find something better i'll move out, but as far as I know this is the only platform that offers a programing language and 3D creation tools in-world for everyone.

A cookie for every "soldier"? hehe After spending entirely too much time and energy modifying the client source so that things like direct spammers are ineffective and finding unfortunately that no one at Linden Labs was remotely interested in any of the work being done by independent programmers, these days I just screw around with alts and laugh at naked avs with enormous penis attachments streaking through religious sims. Second life is vaguely tolerable for five or ten minutes of blowing off steam as long as I treat it as a pointless video game with a horribly unstable client and never, ever as anything else.

Identity Verification

Personally, I've resolved myself to leaving when Identify Verification is officially implemented UNLESS they change the IV vendor. Who knows when that will be, but that's the "end game" for me.

@ Draco: the current version to download is 1.18.6.76116 according to log-in screen **personally i don't pay attention to the numbers...i label them as version 2. CRAPPIER**
@Kahiro: Congrats on being able to start a business, and i completely understand your views. It's fantastic that SL gives the freedom to create items and establish actual skills but there has got to be a compromise between the customers who have already spent over 1.3 million USD$ JUST TODAY and the programmers who are going to get a salary from it.
I also understand that there is no guarantee that SL will be the most phenomenal gaming experience but with the way things are going, i don't want to stick around for another patch update. I just purchased a new laptop with 4GB of ram and after installing the latest patches, i still find myself being pressed through more crashes than i had with my 2000 Windows PC which has viruses (LMAO!) Already today i've gone through 6-7 and it's not even 1pm! *le sigh* I cant help but think that SecondLife is just another SecondStress.

From: Duchess Steadham true, but still, for the money we give, what do we pay for? Duchess, You just bought a new laptop. However I bet the graphics card drivers and the chipset drivers are probably 6 months old. At this time, Vista (I'm assuming you have Vista) graphics card drivers were notoriously unreliable. To the extent that I used to log in to SL and be booted with a crash before everything had rezzed. My first advice would be to get onto the laptop manufacturers website and get a complete specification for the chipset, the networking devices, the graphics chipset and the sound chipset. Then go to the manufacters website (do not rely on Windows Update) for these devices (there may be several different manufacturers) and download the latest drivers for all of the devices and install them. After the last device is installed, reboot the computer and try SL again. You may well be pleasently surprised.

Sweet, now if you can tell me how to get the lindens to understand threading under OSX so that the client becomes stable and stops completely trashing Leopard on Macbook Pros (hint lindens---its not the video driver--and yes, its completely YOUR fault), that would be just faboo. Thanks.

I downloaded both the windlight and reg. and had been playing windlight religiously...but after my tiff of 15+ crashes in 1 1/2 hours, I just uninstalled and reinstalled reg. SL. I'm still terrified of the next patch though...
