Although in my opinion SL is the best online virtual game. If they would Reimburse everyone for thier downtime like major companies e.g Cable companies,Cell companies etc, they would be out of business. So the point to my posting is , although SL has many downtimes that can causes a finicial impact to Businesses such like realitors, shop owners, etc. they still manage to collect money from residence no matter how long thier outages takes to resolve

It's in the TOS. More than 24 continuous hours of unsceudled downtime. Downtime is defined as the grid being completely unavailable. Unplanned being anything that they do not announce beforehand--i.e. the six hours on Wednesday don't count, even if said Wed Update takes 24 hours (it'd have to hit 30 hours to trigger).

That's pretty much how my telephone company works Draco.

Any more than 24 hours continuous downtime and you get compensation.
So they send an engineer out at hour 23 to temporarily fix it with sticky tape and elastic bands. :p

Just noticed my ISP's T&Cs state they only offer compensation for more than 24 hours continuous downtime too. They print "continuous" in italic, bold and underlined text. I guess they've had complaints. ;)

So, looks like LL are already doing what other companies do.

It's been a while since I've read a compensation thread yet they used to pop-up on a weekly basis last year.

I dont see why people who have premium accounts dont get compensated, paying for a service that isn't being provided. Even in the example of a telephony company you can still enquire to Oftel about their performance and probably succeed.

There is no "governing body" for Online Multiplayer games that rip people off all day.

When a service of a game which is supposed to be fun, stops you from buying things, removes half your inventory, then stops you teleporting. And your PAYING for it to do that.... that's just silly, you wouldn't stand for it in any other line of business.

That would be like your Internet provider going down then sending someone to your house while they're unusable knocking on your door and stealing your wallet and half of your furniture.

Note it's always half or less, they never take everything because then they couldn't talk their way out of the fact that its their fault. half they go "oh its a bug which was reported on page 92 of webpage xxxxxxxxxxx if you had looked through all the pages of bugs you would have seen that you shouldn't try even breathing in game, and therefore we're going to do didly squat.
