Anybody else having this problem? I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Inspiron 5150, and every time I try to log in, SL gets to the "Logging In" portion of the log in screen, and immediately freezes. Things were working fine before the update.
Edited to add: waiting a while seems to have worked. I'm in world now.

I'm having the exact same problem. Sent several crash reports into lindenlabs. Not doing a great lot for my business I can assure you, being completely unable to even get in to maintain it. Woohoo. :/

Guys, I dunno if this will work for you, but it did for me.
I downloaded the client manually from the SL website and completely removed SL off my pc via Add/Remove Programs, then resintalled the manual download.
I logged in fine after that. Might be worth a shot.
