[Updated] Second Life Grid Restored
Wednesday, August 8th, 2007 at 10:34 AM PDT by: rheyalinden

[Update 5:47 PM Pacific 08/08/07]
The last of the network issues have been resolved and the grid is now back online and fully operational.

[Update 5:00 PM Pacific on 08/08/07]

ATTENTION LINDEN LABS!

Can anyone there DEFINE the word 'operational' for us, and then tell us what they mean by 'FULLY' in regards to it. I call bullshit. How would you like to gain a few more lawsuits? Where EXACTLY is our money going you asses?

I even went to ask r(+etard)heya linden if she even knew what operational means, BUT she was OFFLINE! Seriously LL, yo post pure bullshit just to try to make people come back, don't you? how is it that you magically know you're operational without being there to see it? Maps are broke, search is broke, tp's are broke, inventory is broke, rezzing is broke, etc, etc, etc.... Seriously, I suggest pulling the plug and selling now while you'll still make a nickle or two. Someone else is already plotting the next gen of this, only they know how to code and you'll crash and burn once they open their door to the public. Have a nice life (even though I wish you'd get in a car accident or something) kthx =)

Yes all is broken!

I can't belive it my self...we are told all is fixed and ok, yet for the last 3 hours....no inventory, no money, no TP's, no avi's rezzing right and most are ruthed, lag is the worst it has ever been...and the list goes on. So very unhappy with the performance with SL right now, as it is the worst I have ever seen in 18 months.

Inventory problems seem to be back
08-08-2007 22:51
...and yes, I've bug reported it.

Rezzing no-copy objects still seems to be hit or miss, and now it seems that inventory creation on in-world objects is failing (i.e. adding scripts/notecards to objects)

I "Bug-reported" that too... they closed the support ticket without even commenting.

Wow
And just when I thought they couldn't screw it up any worse!!! Gotta hand it to the Lindens. They should get a national award or something for destroying a good program. SOE must be trembling in their shoes. There is actually another company that can screw things up as bad as they do, if not worse. Or maybe the Lindens are actually SOE in disguise!!
This is just about the last straw

Shakeshead................unreal! What worse they have not posted **** onthe blog. Can it get any worse? It ws and it appears to be heading down and down and down......I have never seen SL in this bad condition in my almost 3 years here. Do they even care anymore? Frankly things are not improving and just heading to a deathend.

Gives up!!! Can't even get on again!! I'm not paying the tier payment when it's due the 12th. They can have the damn property and I'm downgrading my account. I refuse to put another penny into the Lindens pocket for this piece of crap they've created now with their so-called improvements.

SecondLife is spiraling down so fast... Just a shame.. This place has, or had such potential, and now it is a hit or miss platform.. Either you can't log in, or when ya do nothing is working... The loss of sales to my business is costing me more then it's worth these days.. Hell I can loose money easy enough in real life, why would I want to do it here too!!!

Disgusted,

Jeza

Impossible. They can't sell now, they completely missed the boat on that one. Now that Sony, Best Buy and IBM are beginning to chat a bit publicly about how idiotic their second life investments were and how worthless commercial presence is on second life, and how it's become more than obvious to everyone involved that the numbers on the website concerning population are very misleading, they'll be lucky to unload their hardware alone for a tenth of what they paid for it.

Indeed. I was very excited when they swiped Active/Outer worlds and started developing with it without acknowledging their source.

"This just in...a RAT has chewed thru a cable at one of our outer locations and caused a grid wide cascading failure.. literally millions of second lifers trying to get to the SONY sims and Best Buy stores are being denied access until the RAT culprit has been identified and aprehended."

"Stay tuned tomorrow when a deviant LL employee purposely spills pop and cheetohs over an outer local control board in an evil terrorist plot to halt the literally thousands of online purchases happening in this virtual HUB of buisness".

"Stay tuned the day after that to watch our expose' on Second Life..cause and effect..and which came first..the chicken or the egg?...Are we all cracked up?..or is only YOUR Second life "scrambled'........AND... If a rat chews a cable in an outer location do you hear it when the grid falls?..or does that Linden Lab employee feel his cheetohs taste better if theyre wrapped in a Mc Donalds wrapper....NEWS at SIX::::"

Sometimes I think about how booming business might be if things worked right.

As it is, I now consider my customers to be intrepid survivors, somehow managing to buy their land and their house and get it placed and decorated, and try to live their lives in it, against all odds.

Somehow they managed to skirt through all the issues to actually do that!

Somehow, life goes on in between and around and through and despite of the snafus.

coco

P.S. And this says nothing about me managing to keep building in spite of it all! Me and my customers - we's a tough breed!

I hear everyone here! I feel your pain totally. Everything is totally borked and the lindens must be playing on a copy of the grid that has no issues, or they're all out at Old Chicago's sucking down brews and laughing at us poor slobs who pay for this crap.

If you're as pissed off as I am, do something about it. Join the SL Player's Union. Just search groups for it, it's free to join. That is, once they fix search *rolls eyes* If you cant search it, IM me in world and I'll add you.

I'll be handing out the "Anti-Ruth" t-shirts soon :)

I hear ya Coco I spent most of my time today building the basics of an item and saving every few min only to find I'd already crashed and lost the amount of work I'd done since the last save. And upon relogging finding that none but one of the saves ever even saved to inventory. Not to mention I can't pull it out to see how far the copy I have is actually along. *sigh*

I would just to have the sl I started with back. Shoot even half a year ago would be nice right now.
