When the required update for lights and flexiprims came along, I was pleasantly surprised to find that I only experienced a framerate drop of about .5 with the new features enabled. Thinking that the optional update might be even better, I downloaded it...and my framerate was cut in half! When you consider that in an empty area I only get about 11 fps, any decrease is bad. Also, Object Occlusion doesn't work at all (it's even grayed out in the debug menu). Considering that this update was meant to help people like me with only the minimum system requirements, I really think it should actually WORK.
CPU: Not supported (2667 Mhz) (It's a Celeron D, why the client can't detect it is beyond me) Memory: 1015 MB OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation Graphics Card: GeForce4 MX 4000/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL Version: 1.5.5

When 1.10 came out, I couldn't believe how good it was. I found that when I entered the world, everything instantly sprang into life! There was no waiting for stuff to painfully rez. It seemed that we had gone back to the immediacy of several versions back.
It was a delight to log in, and I wasn't the only one who found it so.
The occasional flashes and crashes were something I could put up with under the circumstances.
But then the latest update came out, and everything has reverted. Again I am stuck surrounded by grey rectangles, going away to make a cup of coffee while the world rezzes, and then coming back to find that nothing has happened and the world is still grey.
I can't believe that sl has gone from being so good to being so awful in such a short period.
Again, I know that I am not the only one experiencing this.
Could a Linden please explain?

Total Agreement!

The 1.10.0 update was a fantastic experience! The framerate was fantastic, the sims were popping, and everything was working great.
Then they released version 1.10.0 (34). I downloaded it, and my client crashed 3x in a row within an hour. Chilly Charlton's sim hasn't been the same since and frequently locks up on the server side. Performance is terrible and everyone is b***ching and moaning all over the place.
ROLL BACK!!! If I could roll back my client, I would.
And to do this before a 3-day weekend? Unbelievably bad idea.
(So - THREAD BUMP THIS BABY TILL THEY ROLL IT BACK!)
Edit: I updated my drivers after the 3 crashes, and it crashes less now. However, on day 1, I played for 8+ straight hours without a crash...so something is wrong..and the sim performance issue has nothing to do with my drivers, for sure.

crashing here too

I updated this morning and started crashing immediately... uninstalled/reinstalled seemed to have stabilized something... what irks me is I couldn't find a pattern for the crashes...

1.10.34

I also had the experience that the 1.10 update was fantastic: gray prims were a seldom seen or never seen experience for relogs. In crowded places, rezz for everything and everyone was very fast, hardly noticeable. The 1.10.34 update took all that high performance away: now I get gray prims for up to 30 seconds. In crowded places, some avies never cease to be gray, or become gray just by looking away for a few seconds (without them being involved in a costume change, of course). It seems to me that suboptimal code was included in .34 after a tremendous effort by the 1.10 team. We would like the good work of the 1.10 team restored, please.

I kinda agree with this..ever since the update ive had textures spazing none stop because of "full bright" being set of them..yes I can fix my own builds so they dont have full bright on..but the texture spaz is very annoying...i hope they fix this soon!

I'll have to compair with my desktop when I get back to school, but my laptop is running 1.10(34) faster than it ran 1.9 (by a factor of 50% or more, 10-11 FPS to 16-1 . But, I have a problem with my object occlusion in that blamo, every prim disapears entirely as if my camera is occluding objects (no HUD).

Everything after 1.9.1.13 was too slow to be usable.
I finally broke down and upgraded my video card, and I'm getting the same performance now on my 6600 that I was getting before 1.9.1.13 on my old 5600.
But not everyone has seen 1.10 as a big improvement.
And, yes, texture loading has been horrible today. They NEED TO switch to TCP for textures and other "bulk" transfers.

I've experienced similar problems! 1.10 worked great for me, but after updating to 1.10.34 the client now lags like crazy if I play for longer than 30 minutes.

Somebody in LL saw the improvement in 1.10 and quickly rectified the situation with 1.10(34), now everything is back to suckiness..

I agree, I was pleasantly surprised with the first update. Now this current update has made things worse for me. I am having building problems where things are becoming unlinked on their own and texture repeat changes aren't showing sometimes until I close edit. I'm also having more lag and rezzing issues. Umm can we have the last version back please kthx.

I really, serioulsy enjoyed SL in an amazing new way with the 1.10 release. When the .34 patch came alone, I updated. And while I didn't count, I think I logged 9 crash reports yesterday. Possibly more. My PC also crashed, three times. In one day.
I finally unistalled and then re-installed everything and life feels much more stable. I would suggest that to anyone who has not tried it. I know it sounds basic but I have not flatlined for the past two hours.
However.
I have to say that doing this before a three day weekend is possibly the worst idea in customer service history. The natives will hold for 24 hours. After 48 its hairy. At 72 its predictable mayhem.
This was a poor PR move and a bad customer support decision.

All I have to say is...
USE TCP FOR TEXTURE DOWNLOADS
Use the same bleeding port number for TCP and UDP, to simplify the design, but it's not that bloody hard to do.

I found that clearing my cache before every login has improved texture loading greatly, and no more vanishing prims. Might work for others, I hope.

Teleporting Major problem
05-30-2006 14:08
Well, after seeing "Could not teleport. Sorry, but the system was unable to complete your teleport request in a timely fashion. Plese try again in a few minutes." for the 30th time in an hour, I'm beginning to get pissed off!
Everytime I attempt to teleport anywhere I go through this. I either need to get a friend to teleport in front of me to move me around, or the damn system does this. Right now im in hour two of leaving my Home parcel. I've lost count to the number of attempts. Lindex needs to figure this one out cause I'm probably not the only one having the issue. And I've re-installed SL 4 times to attempt to correct it incase it was a client side problem, firewalls and everything are off just to make sure its not me. I like many are a premium member and own a decent sized parcel and pay quite a bit of USD per month to enjoy SL. since this patch, SL has NOT been enjoyable. I don't like being stuck in on spot until someone is kind enough to pull me out!
This has been happening since the 1.10 (34) release. Overall, I am happy with the release except for this one problem. Graphics are great, system lag is low, FPS kicks ass.
