I don't know why certain updates are mandatory....and usually i wait for those Updates to be forced upon me before i DL them..but for some fateful reason last night Aug4th I decided to dl the latest voice update. At first...it was irritating having to seperate.. then close each of the tens upon tens of IMs I receive while I'm offline..who was the genius that thought that up?."Hmmm let's take the simple "close" option in the instant message window and add about 3 extra steps to it...yesss...niiice..."...o.O

Then..i wasn't able to teleport...of my own free will with LMs OR friends trying to send teleports to me....after about 10 tries i was able to get to another sim...but usually when i teleport..if i get any message that says"Second Life"..instead of "connecting to region"..I might as well cntrl Q...cause that TP isn't going to happen.(no matter how hard i look at the screen and chant "cmon...cmon...cmoooon".

Ok..so after three hours of this I decided this "update" was a BIG mistake. I system restored. I was then greeted with the same lil 'polite" message telling me an "update" was avaliable but it wasnt "required"...**sighs deeply**..I decline(fixed ...right?)....and SL crashes....and continues to crash..and crash..and crash(wouldn't even let me get to the password screen=()..until I "undo" the system restore and go back to this "updated" version...since then out of 20 attempts ,I've been able to log in ONCE.

My old home landmark has been changed to a SIM that I do not own ,i have never owned... nor do I want to log into everytime i log into SL. How do i change this?...AND i've been running SL "glitch free" for over a month with Vista (is there something about this voice crap and the first look viewer that is "Vista un friendly"?

Anyone else about to pick up that imaginary gun and shoot themselves in the mouth?

Welcome to SL! Even that your not new by any means.

I learned along time ago never use optional viewers. sadly they are always bug filled crap and never work properly.

I don't think system restore works very well for going back to older versions of the program since it doesn't revert your user files which is where SL stores all it's settings. You're probably better off just uninstalling the new version and then reinstalling the old one.

One of the things that system restores are useless at, is clearing old registry entries. Personally I don't have issues as I use a registry cleaner regularily. I always de-install any previous versions of SL, defrag and run a registry cleaner to remove old dead entries, then install a clean version of SL. It works for me.
